Shadowboot is loading the NAND filesystem off the HDD or a disc, but very commonly said filesystem is modded to boot retail signed content.

So would this be used simply for getting a dev kit on XBL? Or possibly modded content online, even though JTAGs and RGH consoles do this quite well. I'm just interested in what benefits it serves is all.

No. This is to run retail games on an XDK

And to answer your question, no. An XDK cannot go on Xbox LIVE (neither PartnerNet nor ProductionNet)

Cool, thanks for the speedy reply. Information on XDK stuff is limited compared to JTAG and RGH. Nice to see knowledgeable people on here.

Sure they can! can go on even more with the right configs but its IMHO pointless to do.
And for @!#%$$ sake do not cheat online :\

I haven't cheated online in over a decade. I just couldn't think of any other reason for a dev console to be on retail xbl other than to simply play retail games. Let's face it, if you have a dev kit then you probably have a retail to do that with haha

I know. I was saying that under normal circumstances, without workarounds, you can't go on Xbox LIVE. And you need the xonline.ini to get on ProductionNet or other LIVE environments. NOT only that, but you need to spoof HV and XAM challenges. Add on top of that the PartnerNet whitelist which can only be bypassed with a mod to the SysExt: partition. This all equals a tedious process to get on a LIVE environment which is useless.

Exactly, There is no reason at all to bring an XDK online and this is coming from the guy that uses his like a retail console.
As in I play everything on it instead of an actual retail.

That's why i said PartnerNet is useless. Devs stopped uploading because of people leaking stuff. Also, i'm pretty sure you can't play online multiplayer on PartnerNet.

That's a shame. You would think with all the knowledge people have on pnet and retail xbl they would be able to spoof a server and essentially run a pnet for private XDK owners... I mean, they have stealth servers and xbl has been exploited all to hell. I'm sure it's possible.
