damn, was hoping to convert it to full on retail so i can play some MW3 lol
You can do a SB or just rip the disc and run the default.xex through something like x360hack. Just no online though.
ye probably just going to sell it
I have the filesystems for 20158.0 (Weird internal kinect dashboard) and i want to downgrade back to that recovery. How would i go about doing this?
My kit is currently running the .18 recovery
I forget and/or am too lazy to go back pages. Slim or phat?
phat. by the way i ONLY have the filesystems, nothing else.
@Falcon You'd have to hack together the recovery like this:
Make a folder called XDKRecoveryXenon20158 and make the following folders in there:
Place anything you want placed on the DEVKIT partition into the DEVKIT folder
The filesystems you have go into the XBOXFLASH folder
XDKSAMPLES are where you place the sample folders at. Just place the samples from another 20000 series recovery, they should work.
XSHELL just contains a .raw file. All you have to do is make a folder called media and place PixPreviewInvalidMode.raw from another 20000 series recovery (when I say 20000 series recovery, I mean like 20209 or 20353)
Now the KERNEL folder is the problem you have here. There is one file here, xboxrom_update.bin. This file contains the bootloaders and the HV/Kernel. Without this file, flashing this recovery will result in a nice little bricked kit. You need to get the 20158 version of this file and then place that in the KERNEL folder.
Unfortunately, you will need to pack this. Based on errors of certain recoveries, you'll need the PACKER executable. But, and this sucks so much, at least for the .17 SDK, it's not included. That's a whole other challenge.
sorry to bump this, but I am looking for the recent .17 SDK file (download link no longer working) and also the 21256.3_Xenon_Recovery.iso. Can anyone hook me up with this 2 files?
Thanks a million! =)
I need the iso aswell need to burn a disc
I've got most XDK recoveries from some of the earliest builds up to dash 17489.
If anyone does need one, send me a message.
Was searching all over for recoveries and coming up with dead links everywhere until I found this link. I thought I would share for anyone else reading this in search.
If someone can send or post me a link for the 9199 ISO Recovery or the 9199 Remote Recovery before FoRuM CLOsURe
It is kinda Left b4 Dead here now before the forum ship passes out.
Any chance the franken xenon's could boot this to play retail games? https://assemblergames.com/threads/...-retail-disc-and-more-guys.71221/#post-991797
give it a shot it cant hurt ur console...
Is this a Powermac G5 or some Xenon prototype? the former I dont think it will even start, latter I have no idea, you might break it. but I am no expert on Xenon hardware that looks like retails. also no expert on G5 stuff, but those dont run the same xex (executables) if im correct like the retail ones.
this will not work.. and here's why
Answering some questions:
Is it worth it? - Depends on the person. I still have multiple FrankenXenons (probably around 4-5) from testing and a few actual Xenon Alpha kits. If you don't have experience with flashing GPUs then you would have to find the X800 XT Mac GPU which is more difficult and pricey (expect $250+ for just the GPU).
Possible benefits - The Xenon OS allows people to mess with early Xbox 360 apps and original Xbox Retail games. It does not have more benefits than an RGH.
Retail Compatibility - The Xenon Alpha kit can run retail ORIGINAL XBOX games but NOT retail Xbox 360 games. Original Xbox games will run very poorly since the emulation wasn't finished at the time.
Using extra CPU power/RAM/HDD - Not possible (at least not by us). Maybe someone with more experience will find a hack someday.
Will Aurora/FSD/Hombrew work? - No. Those apps/dashboards are XEX2 format applications. The Xenon OS on the Alpha kit only runs XEX0 and Original Xbox apps (XBE). There is no leaked SDK that is compatible with the leaked Xenon OS version so homebrew can't really be created for it.
To be absolutely clear to anyone trying to build a FrankenXenon:
The Xenon Alpha Kit is NOT an Xbox 360.
It's a very early version of the Xbox 360 operating system that will only run very early apps created from a very early SDK that no-one has. Apps/games made on release Xbox 360 hardware/software will not run on the Alpha Xenon OS since it was being changed constantly at the time. Even dev games made on the Xenon Alpha OS 0615 are incompatible with the leaked 1529 OS despite them being pretty much the same OS.
this is from here https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/frankenxenon-is-it-worth-it.475/
so now stop asking about this... THIS WILL NEVER WORK....................................................................................................................................
Now go get a XBox 360 JTAG/RGH or XDK 360 and be done with it
