I'm looking to buy an NTSC-U Sega Dreamcast that's capable of booting CD-Rs. Must be within reasonable condition, obviously working, one controller, vmu, and cables. Thanks! - CK
Well I've got one that is...a bit special. Got a controller, VMU, cables, the whole shebang. But I kinda dropped in a chip to flash a replacement BIOS on that has a different boot up animation than most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq1UJp0_Azg Other than that it is retail in every way though I think this particular BIOS is 100% region free. Most assuredly boots CD-Rs.
If the original poster doesnt want this i am interested. Is the unit white or yellowed? Lens ok? How much do you want for it?
And brings a cheese eating grin to your face to see it boot up from a retail DC on your TV. The DC itself is pretty white. Doesn't look like it has spent much time being hit by UV light at all honestly. The laser itself seems fine as it booted up my CD-Rs to flash the BIOS to the chip I installed (theres a thread floating around on here that details how its done as well as some of my own posts) and it plays my pressed GD-ROMs just fine. I don't do burns of DC games for a variety of reasons so I can't say how well they function. As for how much I've never really thought about it. While it is not impossible for someone to replicate this mod it wasn't something you'll be seeing mass produced (ala Treamcast) for the market any time soon. I was also contemplating adding a switch to allow for overclocking as I have the parts necessary as well as possibly an internal VGA mod.
Well, I'm going to bump this, more than likely APE doesn't have the console anymore since I hadn't even noticed his replies. Sooo -bump-
