The 15$ genesis that was used for a lot of modding experimentation and has long since been dead, I kept the parts and figured this is a great use.

The converter indeed isn't as good as the gameboy player. What's really sad is the converter has outstanding video but there's video interference when I make video captures of it (doesn't show up on my tv). Another thing that stinks is when you enable the enlarge mode the pixels are no longer a uniform size, oh well it was still a fun thing to build.

Overall the gameboy player wins. But atleast now we know.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone!

That GBAesis looks a little rough around the edges. Interesting concept, though.

Love it. Wish I had the soldering ability and skills needed to make something like this.

You might as well get used to it, some people prefer to use it.

Copious amounts of hot glue is part of the Drakon brand. Without it you just aren't getting Drakon.

Is nice, now some paint to make it look less rough. This bring me memories of the neo geo x a little one inside a base.

I "use" hot glue, you aren't "using" it (abusing?). I think this is what people are getting at. The back ports look terrible because of it, etc.

I can't imagine it offers much structural support either.

You wanna talk about hot glue abuse? I saw a hacked together N64 portable on Youtube awhile back that the casing was mostly hot glue and some duct tape. Talk about having nightmares for days after that...

Wow, guess I have some competition. I figure too much is better than too little.

Nothing wrong with hot glue. A lot of gadgets and also some controllers use hot glue internally, and those are commercial products.

I use hot glue for holding wires in place, not for filling gaps. I make sure any holes are cut to the right size.
