    Virtua Hamster Dumped! Footage Inside

So Virtua Hamster for 32x was dumped. I dunno why, but this game seems to be kind of a "holy grail" for 32x. No idea why, I would have prefered to see some of the unreleased STI stuff. None, the less, enjoy, it's actually hard to look away!

Pretty cool, although it's looking rather crappy.

How disappointing. I kind of wish it had remained an enigma...

You're either being sarcastic, or you have a very different taste in games than most people.

Having played both back in the day, I always found it amusing that collectors were so gaga for Virtua Hamster and X-Men for the 32X.

Both titles were very early, very rough and pretty lacking in game content when they were canned. In short, there is little here to really make a game.

It's a great piece of gaming history, but this isn't some unreleased gem. ;)

    rom pls

Also, it kinda has a rep due to the fact that it might appear to be using the engine Virtua Racing 32X was using. You know, Virtua Hamster as opposed to Virtual Hamster? The options menu also looks identical to the one used for Virtua Racing 32X. Cool.

I still want to see a rom released though, because I don't like to say that something sucks based on what it looks like on video.

Sega has just announced a new add on for 32X, virtuanus.
Placed on top of the 32x by pucker pressure, the special 32X VDPPINME
allows the Virtua Hamster to enter the virtua ass of a plethora of
virtua people. No release date yet set.

Sarcastic yeah, but i have to disagree on it's significance. I was a huge Genesis fan, and from a techie point of view, even with the addition of 32x hardware, what they pulled off here is nothing short of amazing. I don't know how the final game would have been, my guess is terrible. But the program itself is outstanding.

Looks extremely early especially given the lack of sound effects.

Reminds me of the Sonic 2 special stages.

might have been cool with airship instead of hamsters :D in any case it's not too bad in itself, but if you thing that a 32x was comparable to a saturn...

We will release it in on July 29th, 2009

I wonder it maybe there is another prototype more advanced, this is pretty early

At least in the screenshots shared by Quakenbush Design in the past we can see split screen:

And in this proto this option is not implemented yet....

Another details is the main title screen, in our prototype you can't see SEGA copyright, and in this image is present:

This is our first release, expect more from SEGA Saturno :icon_bigg

I don't think there are protos of this game in a more advanced form surfacing around. The most developed revision must be only in hands of Eric Quakenbush (where those pics come from) or any other from the programming staff.

Didn't they said there was an even earlier beta than the one getting leaked?

How much of "early" was that X-Men proto you played? Playable at least? Were you involved in the project itself or some kind of beta-tester?
