First, again, an MS-DOS menu on a Dreamcast? Second, like someone said, given how buggy these updates are, I wouldn't even dare.

At this point he should just make an API and let users do the menu, kind of like deunan did with neuroacid but even more open.
Everybody wins: the users get more features than they can wish for and the developer has less support/coding to do.

Unfortunately that will likely never happen. I'm worried that Deunan will go the same way since he is on a war path to stop clone hardware from making it to the market. Both of them are hand making the boards rather than going to a Fab to mass produce to meet demand and drive prices down. It's frustrating and shows that they have egos that won't let anyone help with their products to make them better.

I agree deunan should've contacted people about better manufacturing ages ago, for his own good as well as that of his customers, but I think his approach of just creating an API and letting someone else do a "game" using the API as a menu is a really good idea. I only wish it'd be open eventually so that anyone can create his own modification or add features, but it's still leagues better than a text-based 1985 DOS interface.

To be clear, I'm only advocating open standards for the API to create our own menus, not open firmwares; I understand the problem with clones. It's my opinion that the firmware sources should be released once the creator abandons the device for good though.

I'm with you on this. MNEMO really should make an API for the menu. I don't mind that the sources are closed and couldn't agree more that it needs to be made open when they get tired of manufacturing and supporting their products, time will tell on that front. The more heads we can get on the menu design the better it would look.

I updated last night and all seems to be working fine. V1 device.

Though not sure if I like the green on black, would have been nice if he allowed putting files on the hdd ( like his patches for fixing some stuff ) to change colours.

but other than that the DC is not some 8/16bit console that can't handle some extra gfx although I don't care about that it would still be nice to have as an option

Reg 7's were all made by Ugo Denshi. They are Rev 1 (670-14071E) models with bios version 1.01D. USB-GDROM should work perfectly fine with these units...

Does anyone ever contact MNEMO to ask about this stuff? I think we all should make an effort to do that. Let him know our wishes. The only thing I really want is an 'in game reset'. If he refuses to do it then maybe he really should open it up for others to contribute. I currently own an unused GDEMU and an installed USBGDROM which is used all the time. Was going to sell the GDEMU but I am having doubts over which to keep if features on USBGDROM never materialise.

Hope you're right. Bleem! is available with original bios it' s strange that no board (gdemu, usbgdrom, dreamshell) can't run it...

It's funny that Bleem has better antipiracy than the console did.
