Hey, isn't that the same person who wrote the analysis of the Turok 2 demo? Awesome! This beta is different from the other ones that have been floating around for a few years. This one seems to have been released since late last year, I can't believe I didn't notice until this thread was made. - Turok 2 Acclaim intro - Completely unused intro cutscene - Unused enemies in Level 1 I think this is the beta with the Turok 2 Dinosoids as placeholders, but my emulator keeps crashing before I can get to that part so I'm not positive. The later levels are missing music and the enemies in the last level don't seem to have any AI programmed, they just stand in place and won't die no matter how many times you shoot them. For quick access to the cheats, just enter 6 dragonflys at the code screen.
Wow you guys are just finding out about this now? Man I did a really bad job of spreading the word around! Anyway I've been meaning to do an analysis of this cart but I did the Turok 2 demo first and that took a very long time. I haven't played this ROM much but there's definitely differences between it and the final. SubDrag has also said the ending is very incomplete.
Here's what the prototype looks like: Here's a different first enemy: Here's the old man in a different place: Here's the puase screen that's missing a lot of information: And here's the best picture of all: Feel free to download the ROM, back it up, upload to other websites, whatever. Help me get it out there. I'm currently working on a large article on another N64 beta game which I'm hoping to upload to Micro-64 on July 6. Once that's complete I'll begin working on Turok 3. The Turok 2 Demo had one level and Turok 3 has 5. It may take a while...
Mirrored, as well as some others. https://mega.co.nz/#F!VQcn0CTS!VQs9NGBAOQx645vdBKnR8w Edit: Sharing folders works. Good, will help with some others...
In the debug menu, the bottom area that tells what chapter etc you're on is a warp selector. I don't think it goes to chapter 5 properly, so you have to use that to select there. Scenes can also be kinda viewed via this as well. Can even warp to multiplayer levels haha
Basically yes, all the N64 Turok games use the same engine. It just got modified and updated with each installment. The South Park FPS also used a modified Turok 2 engine.
It's funny because when I dumped this, next to no one noticed. When this thread was made, suddenly a bunch of gaming news websites started talking about it and linking to Micro-64. Thanks very much to the OP! What I had written on that page kinda sucked, so I updated it to include more information and screenshots. I do plan to write about this proto one day, it's on my long list of things to do. At the moment I've got school and am studying.
Cheater i love the turok series, thank you so much for this! Has the turok 2 beta been dumped yet? Haven't been keeping up to date recently.
What Turok 2 beta? You mean the kiosk demo? That's been floating around the internet for the longest. There are even hacked versions that restored blood into the game. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
Been meaning to share this for a while, placeholder pickup icon of the eviscerator (unless you've seen it already). Been sitting on my hd for a while haha
