For now the 1st_read.bin is unreadable...
Maybe trying to change the bytes space is a better issue.
The european caracters are right with japanese 1st_read.bin, it's only the spaces which are not correct ?
find the good byte in the english version and do a find and replace (ctrl+F and replace all) in the japanese rdx version seems to be a possible way for me.

You'll find the gdi dump in theisozone

when using japan bin large spaces between characters problem is when exploring enviroment and the descriptions in the menu. but the files are complete japanese. the spacing problem is hapening because japanese characters need bigger spacing and the spacing is calculated from the 1st bin. i had try to use usa bin with all files from the japanese version including system.afs and sysmes.ald the result was japanese characters one on top with the other. so spacing is determind from 1st bin

The Variable Width Font data is disabled. The japanese 1ST_READ contains the info that tells the game the width of each character, but it's not being applied. This would require hacking or disassembly, which I do know is difficult. But that's my point of view.

interesting. but if the width is not applied from the 1st bin, why width problem happens when change 1st bins?? either when using japan only files, or usa only files?? i thing there is a secondary address for widths or you change a wrong one. anyway im just guesing, from the results ive seen. maybe the truth is a complete diferent thing, @japanese_cake who have experience with 1st bins will see into it and enlighten us.

I would like to help, because I was able to extract the images and I was able to edit them and re-train in the game, and it worked.
However I only discovered the resident evil for PS2, the dreamcast still do not know the format of the game images.
Now it only needs the subtitles that is the main one, which is in the RDX file, but I still do not know how to edit it.

Thanks to Truemaster1, IlDucci, fafadou among others, for some information I got here.
Thanks, but I continue with many doubts regarding the subtitles, if you can help me more I thank you.

Thanks for have taken so many time for this project.

If I understand well, you have put the english screens in the japanese version (menus, inventory etc...) ?
For the subtitles and documents you have to change the byte of spacement according to Ilduci in the 1st_read.bin.

I can change the opening of the game, the initial menu.
I can change the images in the aperture, I can put up my photo in place of several images.
I can change the face of the characters, the clothes of the character, and the game works perfect.
There is only one however, I could not figure out the image format for dreamcast, only for ps2.
Because the format of the images of ps2 is TIM2, and the one of dreamcast I do not know, but I will find out.
The hardest I have not yet managed is to change most of the subtitles.
As a member of the forum had spoken, actually many texts, including the opening menu is embedded in the image.
The solution is to extract and edit the images.
    I await

For the inventory menu it shall work like this :
"The solution is to extract and edit the images." as you said but it must take time to do it.
But maybe you can import them from the us version.

for subtitles it's the biggest problem only for one byte...

I discovered the format of the dreamcast graphics, because it is the PVR format, I will leave a link to download the program that allows you to visualize the images.
I need to figure out how to export and import the image after it has been edited.
    http://segaretro.org/PVR_Viewer

Start by testing with the ADV.AFS file.
First change AFS extension and place PVR in place of AFS.
Then search the program for the ADV.PVR file
Then I scanned the file, and ready will appear some files as the arbetura and some menu of the game.
However, for Ps2 I already know how to export, edit and import again in the game, so I need to find out for Dreamcast.
Maybe this information is useful for the forum.
Anyway, I thank you and count on your help.

Do all the language variants share the same 1st_Read.bin?

I've done a Widescreen (16:9) hex patch for the Spanish version posted in the first post.

It may work for the other versions of the game, if someone whants to test it the code is the one below.

    Code:
    Find
    C8A60200 A245963F E411148C E811148C
    Replace
    C8A60200 7368613F E411148C E811148C

It is very difficult to figure out how to extract the images inside the RDX file.
This game is the most complex shot to edit.
If anyone has any information, I appreciate it.
