Bump for a new unreleased proto! Thought we'd mix things up a bit and give something up to the Sega crowd. Without further ado, I present you: Dragon's Lair for the Sega Genesis!

    Original purchase price: $800
    Previous owner: Gknight

Don't ask me why, but I love this one! It's a port of the SNES game with some distinct differences in graphics and is 100% complete. The only glitch I've seen is that when you duck and fire your weapon, there is no firing animation, so you just shoot the object from your head.

Just a small taste of things to come for the summer of protos, the ROM is attached to the first post in the linked thread above. Enjoy!

The bizarre spacing after the apostrophe or the random comma/period combination after corp?

Wow, very cool. I had no idea there was even a Mega Drive version of Dragon's Lair in production. Didn't Elite do the SNES version with Konami releasing it under the mname of Dragon's Magic in Japan?

Thanks for the dumps. Although the showboating is a tad much for my tastes.

As stated in the game, the SNES version was developed by Motivetime Limited and published by different companies according to the region. Elite Systems published it in Europe, Data East in North America and Konami in Japan. Apparently Motivetime Limited was a developer regularly associated to the Elite System productions, so you can say that somehow.

This Mega Drive/Genesis conversion was developed by Eden Entertainment (same guys who developed the Mega Drive/Genesis version of Joe & Mac, also associated to Elite Systems apparently) and was going to be published by Taito in North America and presumably Elite Systems in Europe, who ended up not releasing a single Mega Drive game at all.

Since it features the Taito logo, this released ROM seems to belong to what was intended to be the North American version. It's region-free anyway.

What exactly is the showboating part? The fact that I let people know I have these games? Kinda tough to omit that when I'm releasing the ROMs. The price point and original owner? Many people like to know where they were purchased and at what cost. If that's the part that bothers you, well, they're worth significantly less now that I've dumped and released them for free. Feel better?

Yeh, now set off some fireworks and put an ad campaign out on TV for the next release.

I've always wondered why some people do look a gift horse in the mouth.

Showboat all you like  (Not that I thought you were) If you release something like this for free I see no reason to be a little showy about it. It's making a lot of people happy and many would like to know the detals about how this proto came to be in our hands.

Reel it back in a little. Don't be so sensitive. I was making an observation.
