There's a thread on Sonic Retro with high-quality pictures of the prototype. and I have seen some sprites there, too.

Well, from what I've gathered, isn't it just a plain hill with a sign or is it something else I'm uninformed of?

his speed was faster. 7 layers of scrolling (wich can be done by removing the sega chant to free up cart space)

You seem to be in the know, but there was a hoax/recreation done a few years ago

a video was even sent to Yuji Naki and it fooled him before being confirmed as a fake/hoax

Wait, This was made in Game Maker! I have it some where on my old Eee PC laptop! I'll see if I can find it and upload it for you guys, however, the game does not let you escape for some odd reason.

Oh nice! I don't think I ever got to play it. I wish you luck on your quest to find the one Sonic 1 Prototype Remake Game Maker .exe file.

it is. he said itn a recent post (in japanese) the game had 7 layers of scrolling in the prototype, and it is shown in the screenshots
They said that Sonic 1's Prototype Green Hill zone featured 7 scrolling layers of Parollax.

1: The frontal foreground of a Brown Rock.

2: The trees on the further foreground.

    3: the Actual foreground

4: the Bluish rocks in the back ground.

5: the mountains in the back ground.

6: the sky of the back ground.

7: the Clouds scrolling in the back ground.

Pretty close to the final ones, you made them by overlapping from the scans or side by side?
