So is there a list of confirmed Saturn prototype games?

Yeah I wondered about that too. But the article states Saturn. Oh well. Still like them faceless buggers

As with most of their conversions, AM2 didn't show anything from Saturn Virtua Cop until it was far into development. I seem to remember early screenshots being printed in the official Sega magazine that closely resembled the final product, so it's likely these scans originate from the arcade prototype - either way, thanks for sharing them as I've not seen these before and any "new" work-in-progress pictures from one of my favourite software teams are welcome. Also, just look at the pre-release video footage of Virtua Cop as seen at the 1995 Tokyo Toy Show (no, I didn't mean the Game show!) for even more proof that those images couldn't possibly have come from the Saturn version. Ironically, that same clip was included on a VHS tape with the first issue of SSM, which evolved from the old Sega magazine.

In response to Yakumo's comments, it did seem a little odd that even Sega's own later arcade-to-home efforts for the Saturn were slightly rough around the edges. With the exception of Winter Heat, it's hard to believe the likes of Manx TT or The House Of The Dead being so mistreated had they been left in the capable hands of their original AM creators - why Sega farmed out their later conversions to third parties is a mystery to me, especially when Capcom proved the Saturn was a powerhouse with its own titles... even if they were (mostly) 2D affairs!

Here's an early screen of the Mansion of Hidden Souls (Yumemi Yakata). (before the graphics got downgraded, obviously)

You will hate me for saying that but I had a video of that as well and Rampo which looked bugger all like the released version  Oh why wasn't I more careful in the past :crying:

Those prototype screens from Mansion Of Hidden Souls look remarkably similar to a later (obviously!) Dreamcast tech demo, and the middle image reminds me - for some reason - of the restaurant stage in Killer7!

I didn't get to see these, and they're gone now. Did anyone save them?

I just found out that I have source code to an unreleased Saturn game. That sucks.

It sucks because I sold my Saturn last month. Anyhow, I'll give it to someone who can compile it and maybe release it.

Can you tell me who was developing the Tick? It looks great.

Fox Interactive advertised the game but I don't think they did development themselves.

Oh god I love The Tick. Does someone actually own a prototype, or are those promotional shots?

Like said, they're promo shots, I haven't played it. (wish I got the proto..)

Now, I've been busy bee the last couple of weeks and added loads of information on unreleased Saturn games to Segadatabase. I've also managed to find two people that were heavily involved in two unreleased Saturn games (from 1997) that dropped off the face of the earth (there was 0,0 information to be found on the net). The truth is out there ;-)

Is a fact that there's more outside the internet than inside...
