Jesus Christ, this is very sad. I've lurked this site for aeons, it feels like (wasn't the site green originally)? It's a huge drag to see all this public acrimony. I hope the community makes it through.

It's essentially anarchy, luckily we don't get spam bots I guess. Very sad circumstances as this is the only forum I use and I feel like I'm talking to the same <5-10 people since registrations are closed with our <150 guests browsing

I apologize for being an ignorant ass, but can somebody be very nice and summarize the event of the past 1 year in maybe 2-3 bullet points? I read through the shit show from last year (everybody resigned and shit went down big time), but has anything happened since then?

I used to be very active here and AG is still my favourite game forum, but I withdrew for a few years because of figuring out life and all. From the looks, everything is back to normal except that we have no moderators anymore? Where did Kevin go, is he still running(administering) the site?

Nothing has happened. There seems to have been a couple of updates to the software, but none of them as quickly as they should be happening. Kevin is gone apparently. The spam is kept to a minimum because it is impossible to sign up and have an account approved. It's a wild west of people who happen to have accounts.

    Assemblergames: Mad Max Edition

Thanks for the summary. If Kevin's gone, who pays the servers? Or can the site go down any second now?

In case of emergency...where would I find most of you guys ?

Shattered around various beta/strange gaming collector sites ?

I surely dont know all of these sites, but maybe someone does and could make a new thread...with a voting option attached maybe ?

Like..."Where is everybody after the fallout ?" :)

It basically played out like a mutiny of sorts - members wanted Kevin (Assembler) to hand over the forum to them because he wasn't doing a good enough job in their opinion.

Had they taken it over, I doubt we'd even be here now. Ego's would have gotten in the way and the place would have gone to ruin in a matter of months. Look at what the ex-members achieved in place of AssemblerGames - a similar site brimming with potential that lasted barely a year or two - because instead of working 'with' this site, they decided to go to war.... that worked out just great (the site is dead, I think)

People keep saying Assembler is gone - but where's the proof? I suspect he's still running the show and keeping in the shadows... which is how you manage to run a successful forum for over two decades. You want 'quiet' or 'mostly dead' then have a trawl through most other retro-gaming forums.

The people behind the mutiny are no doubt the ones who were spamming the crap out of the board - hence the closed registrations.

I do love how the people who complained during the initial mutiny or keep reminding us this place is 'dead' are still here. :)

I already pointed out that the retro scene is not what it used to be anymore - a lot of projects have reached (or almost reached...) their conclusion and most of those 'holy grails' have eventually surfaced. Times have changed and there's a lot less to discuss - it's been like this for a year or two now. How about smoking a joint and just relaxing and enjoying what's here... there's still a lot of discussion going on. It may not be your cup of tea but there are people replying and offering opinion.

    Dead? Definitely not.
