Not sure if others here know about this but a person over at reddit posted these details today.

By the way, to access the Testmode menu (which has test patterns, sound test and the list of mic commands - I think) hold the four face buttons (ABXY) and Down/Left on the D-Pad.

Hi guys can anyone point out to me which is the correct working version of fish life cdi or gdi already patched and working?
I downloaded japanese cakes version but it says it needs to be patched. Not sure on how about to do this but is there a place that has both GDI and CDI files both working on hardware with no issues?

if you have gdemu propably the GDI is ok
if you want to burn cdi then download this >

if you want to save menu options you need to burn this to a cd and run it only once in every dreamcast you want to use!

It's might be too late to reply to this thread now but I tested the two CDI images above (the game and the fix) on almost a dozen Dreamcasts and I found that they only boot on US console.

For Japanese Console, the game image (https://mega.nz/#!RRlSUQSb!0sSG65ftw0kG-gMHMSuPLrrpW9oNdE3zpl_lxL2xhNY) doesn't boot and the console keeps saying "please insert disc". This is on both V0 and V1 Japanese systems.

Also, the fix image (https://dcemulation.org/files/FishLifeFix-darcagn.zip) makes the Japanese console getting stuck at the swirling screen. The GD drive spinning up and down like crazy.

The only way I managed to get a Japanese system to boot the game was installing DCHDMI on the mobo. This is so odd.

I only have a V1 PAL system and it behaves the same as the Japanese ones.

Images were burned on Taiyo Yuden CD-R (4x speed) using DiscJuggler on Yamaha F1 and Plextor 760A burners

I don't think the issue has to do with burn speed.
