Im surprised this hasnt been talked about much but a recent yahoo auction had a n64 dev kit with a untested N64 dev cart. Due to the auction being held on my wedding day i missed out but the buyer had posted pics on twitter of his purchase.
The dev cart has a playable version of the cancelled Rev limit but not much else is known. I dont follow twitter but if anyone here does they should hit him up for some footage!

First of all: Congratulations on your wedding! Hope all went well.

Second, I remember very vividly how owners of the N64 like myself looked forward to Rev Limit. It looked like a cool game, especially considering the N64 wasn't spoilt with good racers.

This is awesome. I remember being amazed at the graphics when i saw the previews back in the day.

Sadly it was never released. Glad a prototype was found.

I was wondering if this would ever surface. Was so hyped about it back then. For some strange reason Seta decided to port it to 64dd but ended up canceling it anyway after the DD tanked. Curious how complete this version is. Sadly I have a feeling this won't be released to the public.

    That's false.
Racing game is one of the strongest genre in the N64 library.

Owner of prototype just posted video of him playing it. Seems to be quite early with most modes being inaccessible. Frame rate seems to take a slight hit when he races with other cars on screen.

I don't think so. Japanese collectors tend to be very hesitant to dump protos. It's crazy how this game was just doomed from the start. Guess it was a bit too ambitious for the n64.

I can only imagine how it would've played in its 64dd incarnation. I think I read somewhere it was ported to 64dd later cause Nintendo wanted something to add to the add on's line up. Still the amount of detail is pretty stunning for n64 game during this time period.
