So after the announcement late last year, we finally have clear HD pictures of the products coming from RetroBit. Remember, these are official licensed Sega products apparently using the official molds of the original controllers, and made to be wireless with a bluetooth dongle you plug into the front of the console.

These images come to us courtesy of Sega Bits.

Hoping that the controllers are usable on each other, as I would so love to pair the Saturn controller with the DC dongle.

I tweeted at them asking if we could possibly see other licensed products from them such as a licensed optical mouse, as that for me would be pretty amazing. I also am hoping they release colored Dreamcast console outer shells with the first party decals on them like if they were official products. I mean that black controller looks so nice it would be a shame if they couldn't also pump out replacement shells.

I hope those controllers work well and are good quality. I don't play my DC or V-Saturn often but I would love to get one for them or PC. Probably should get some Saturn games for my V-Saturn first....

If they do release them, I hope they not only matches they quality of the original, but surpasses them as well. I held an original MD controller the other day, and man do they feel mushy. I don't know if it's just nostalgia, but were they always this sloppy compared to the SNES? The NES and SNES controllers still hold up.

Eh, I wouldn't say it is as advanced as the Saturn pad. When I had my Genesis in the 90's and then when I got my Saturn in 98 I noticed a huge difference in how it felt. Not that the Mega Drive/Genesis had shit quality controllers, just that technology and quality had evolved a lot within Sega when the time came for the Saturn to come out. Remember the Mega Drive came out in what 88-89? Casual gamers don't obviously have the same idea as hard core Sega fans about how Saturn pads are the best digital controllers, but we know our shit.

There is a reason official Saturn USB pads were made for PC for a few years in the early naughts. They were the best when it came to games that used purely digital input such as fighters, shmups, as well as classic emulators. The Saturn D-Pad is still way better than pretty much any modern controller out today. True 8-way input and great 6 face buttons as well as nice clicky shoulder buttons.

My brother in particular is a casual gamer when it comes to Sega hardware. He doesn't agree with me on the Saturn pad. But he is a huge Nintendo and Sony fan. So meh. I like anything I can game on, try not to be a fanboy. I play on every console I can get my hands on as well as PC. But Sega has me by the balls and Saturn and Dreamcast are my favorites.

PC is my current favorite, for obvious reasons as it is objectively the best and most powerful system since it is constantly evolving and a free open system.

Also, you have to realize, the system came out almost 30 years ago. So no fucking way a 30 year old controller will feel as snappy as a brand new controller.

I agree with you on the Saturn controller, I really feel they got it right, both the Japanese and the first western controller.

But I have to disagree with you on your last argument, the NES controller is as precise as it has ever been. The directional buttons are extremely tight even today.

Wait, where did I say NES was shit? While I agree the NES controller is tight too, I wouldn't say it is the worst or trash.

You said 30 year old controllers cant/won't feel as snappy as they did.

He counted that the nes one is still fine after this time.

@Bad_Ad84 Ah I get it now thanks not sure why I didn't get what he was saying before.

@fafadou, yep that is why it will be great to have the wireless one. Although using that on PC wouldn't be something I would do much since I got wireless 360 controllers. The Saturn pad would be great to have for PC though especially for 2d games and emulators.

I just hope the dongles can easily be firmware flashed to allow the other consoles controllers to work on each other. I see no reason it can't be made to? Saturn controller on Dreamcast wirelessly would be great.

I supposed the modern computer can see the bluetooth and the dreamcast have a dongle I can see on the right of the picture.
