Hey all! Big Diablo fan here. Been doing some PvP on D2 once in a while(D3 is not a game I want to play in it's current state) and I remembered all those years back before the game was released, there was a Public Beta released, to test server strength and other things. It was called the "Diablo II Stress-Test Beta" if I remember correctly. The final game has alot of unused content in it, lots of features that were left out but developed on(the Guilds function), but ultimately didn't make it into the gold release. I just want to do some digging really. I was wondering if anyone has a copy of this game, and if they did would be awesome if you could upload it. Thanks and cheers! e: I've searched around google and stuff, but nada
the stress test was 100mb and pretty useless, there wasn't much on it. you would be better off looking for the original closed beta that went to the end of act1. edit: That being said, there are various versions of that beta, as well as the LOD beta, there is also a whole bunch of Diablo 1 stuff around, I'll see what I have if youre interested.
I've got some alpha videos on my youtube channel, you've probably seen them though. Very different from final obviously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkuMLFO3hVE
I don't know if this is a bad bump or not, but... are you still considering uploading this? And if you already have, where might I find it on this wonderful forum? If you decided not to, that's okay.
I have the closed beta disc as well. The problem is that you can't install it (anymore)... the Product key does not work. Even so, I don't think you can install it locally because I think it needed to authenticate online. So I don't think that portion works anymore either.
Surely it can be cracked to play locally (bypassing product key and online authentication)? Even if not, it'd be awesome if you could still upload it! Imagine the kind of stuff people could unearth from its filesystem. But in the end, it's your choice. I won't (and cannot) force you to do anything.
I can look for it but can't garauntee it is useable. Remember these you downloaded and burned to CD-R. Quite a few of my CD-Rs from that time period have suffered disc rot.
I played so much diablo 2 its crazy. One of my favorite games of all time. Pm me if you find anything.
