first let me say i am totally new here. introduction: Spoiler found a user who posted some stuff on another site, and searched their screen name which brought me to this site. i must say i am totally amazed i never knew this place existed. i consider myself a bit of a digital archivist, and like having copies of stuff, especially obscure things that may get lost over time. brief personal history: dad was a programmer, so always had computers and video games in my life. started consoles with NES and a big fan of old RPGs. skipped over most of the gamecube / ps2 / xbox timeframe by playing pc games, but became an "achievement hunter" after getting a 360 for FF13. (yeah i'm one of those guys). so now i spend a lot of time with 360 stuff. posting in xbox.com support forums and hanging out on TrueAchievements (TA). i love collecting all the weird one-game peripherals and lesser-known titles. which brings me to today. i am looking for some games that are listed on TA as Unreleased or Cancelled. hoping that some people here can help me find some information or point me in the right direction. please let me know if i have misunderstood the rules or am in the wrong section. i have seen the 4-year rule explained here, and also seen some people say that anything 360 is fair game at this point. the two games i am most interested in are Dreamkiller and Speak Out English. both of these are from 2009 or earlier. it seems Dreamkiller was released for PC but cancelled on 360. there are people who have earned the achievements, which is why it shows up on TA, so i know this exists in some form. Speak Out English was a Korean language-learning game, which seems to have been cancelled, and there are also 5 people listed on TA who have played this. i would probably even be willing to pay for these. (is that ok to offer? should i be posting in the Wanted To Buy section?) not sure if anyone has experience with this, but i wonder if i had either on disc, would i get banned from xbox live for using them? TA would probably message me, since all the achievements are listed as Unobtainable, and earning those automatically flags your account, but if i showed them i had physical copies, i think they'd be cool with it. also there are some XBLA games with full achievement lists that i have come across. i'm a little more hesitant to play those on my gamertag, as there is no way to show that i have them in some legitimate form. NBA Jam and Wrestlefest i already have found, i think. the xbox one and windows phone games are far less priority to me at the moment. xbox one stuff probably can't be played yet without a devkit, and WP stuff requires a "rooted" phone, which i think prevents me from using my gamertag anyway, but it'd still be cool to check those games out just for fun. Spoiler i am sort of working on a project to compile the region compatibility for all 360 discs. there are two known games that are a little odd - Conan (JP) and Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2. Conan is NTSC/J and DDRU2 is NTSC/U+J, but they both are coded with a region lock of 0xF9 in NTSC/J. NTSC/U and PAL games are always 0xFF, but PAL seems to allow for 0x01 (AUS & NZ only) and 0xFE (EU only), though i have never seen a game that excludes one or the other. NTSC/J is different. Shin Sangoku Musou 4 Special is coded 0x01 (Japan only), and most every other game is 0xFD because it provided the exclusion of 0x02 (China), which never ended up getting a 360 console release anyway. Quake 2 works with all PAL and NTSC/U consoles but for NTSC/J is 0xFC, meaning it excludes China and Japan, so it's Almost RF. 0xF9 would exclude another sub-region of NTSC/J (0x04), but i cannot figure out what this is. i thought perhaps if some people here looked at the nand data on some asian consoles, we could find an answer. i've never personally seen the variations in the nand of a EU vs AUS/NZ console. it would be nice to know if there was actually a difference between consoles from Japan, S.Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc. so anyway, sorry for the long post and crazy questions, but here i am and this is me. i feel this post makes a nice introduction to what i'm all about and hope i will fit well into this community.
