    1 and 2 I have. With 3 I could probably figure out 4.

If op would send me the disc, I'd return once done. My rep around here should be good enough to remove any doubt.

Google ts20 Panasonic service disc 2, its the top result.

It's £50 and shipped from the UK. If I can make copies that work, I'll resell some cheaper to cover my costs. If it doesn't work, I have one for my kit.

They never shipped it. I had to claim a refund.

Well.. I acquired the over burn DVD+R DL drive. I'm actually not sure it's needed. If you look at the original pics of the service disc, you'll see it says "DVD-R". These discs were sold by B&H .. nothing special about them except for the material used for the substrate (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/325490-REG/Verbatim_94049_DVD_R_for_Authoring_4_7GB.html). Do the huge DL image .. I'm not sure what's there... Sounds like junk. I did burn using very high quality Taiyo Yuden discs. It plays fine.. I followed the instructions (tried both remove the macro vision as well as change to USA region). I followed up by trying to play a USA pressed copy of Family Guy. No go... tells me it's out of region. This entire procedure seems to do only one thing - reset the OSD back to Japanese from English. At this point I believe the problem is not burning the disc.. it's getting a proper copy of the disc to share. a 4GB image should be sufficient. Anyone can suggest something better? I think ISO is not sufficient (isn't that why many images in the day were BIN/CUE?)

Here is the final word from the “horse’s mouth”

    http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/GeneralvsAuthoring.pdf

Apart from the laser frequency being different (no big deal) the authoring disc and writer can write specific data at the start of the disc that the DVD-R burners we all have can not.

But authoring discs can be read in any drive. So i assume that special sector can be read. Now we need to verify the dump software can dump it into into the container on the hard drive. Then, someone with an authoring burned, using authoring discs (no need for DL) can make perfect copies. I suspect this is how these DVD-R’s were made.

So who got the drive and blanks?? :)

Me and all you have done is repeat what was said in the thread already.

We know we need a proper dump. The other dump was already tested with same results you got.

was it tested on DVD-R authoring? I believe the dump might actually be good. It’s the media used that’s not good.
