Well, Mine would be an 16 bit system, but had the ability to be 32 bit using a more costly chip then the SFX chip. have carts with memory size of 2 GB and only save with an internal battery. System would be a large block and come in 10 standard colors: Black,White,Green,Yellow,Blue,Red,Purple,Pink,Grey,Brown,Orange. Along with various Limited editions. Controller would be a standard d-pad with A,B,X,Y L and R buttons along with start and select, and also come in previously mentioned colors. Main 3rd party support would be Atlus and sunsoft.

An arguably powerful combined CPU/GPU architecture, coupled with an abundance of memory, a custom Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drive that has a triple diode setup capable of reading any specially formatted CD/GD/DVD/BR disc, a high-speed data port that interfaces with hardware add-ons (mainly cartridge slots in sleek, form-fitting shells that interface/receive power from the hardware), and driver support for any controller adapters that can interface through USB (even the 5200, just for the sake of universal BC).

It would be a multimedia powerhouse with support for any and all memory card types, internet TV streaming, Netflix, and full Flash/HTML5 support.

The casing would be incredibly minimalist, but it would also feature an optional pop-in/pop-out programmable LCD that's capable of showcasing the logo for the app you're using, or video game art for whatever you're playing.

The more I'm writing this, the more it just sounds like a mini-PC designed with gaming in mind, but I guess that's what they all are at this point.

    • Main CPU: 2x Intel i690 @ 25 MHz, 2x NEC V60 @ 25 MHz
    • Graphics chip: x2 Lockheed Martin Real3D
    • Sound CPU: Motorola 68000, Moog Custom Synth Controller
    • Sound chip: YMF292
    • Custom full-featured polyphonic analog synthesizer designed by Moog (imagine Polymoog + Taurus + Minimoog)
    • 20MB RAM

    Its a bitch to program.

You might as well admit you'll be throwing in another CPU.
We know you just want to 1-up the competition closer to launch! :wink-new:

I might as well throw in a couple NEC V60's just for the hell of it.

    Socketed components? REALLY?

The advantage of a console is to extract the "full power" of standardized, stock components, if you have upgradeable CPU/GPU the devs will just get lazy and pressure the company every year for an upgrade.

    Main CPU: Multiple FPGA's
    Graphics Chip: ^^^
Sound CPU: ^^^ (See the pattern?)

Get a very basic version of linux running on the fpga's and port over the necessary libraries and applications and modify them for specific needs. After it's all said and done have someone manufacture a ASIC version for final hardware.
