ianoid Betas FS: PSP, PSX, SAT, PS2, PS3, 360, DC, NGage

Finally had time to get back to selling these. With the new guidelines, it took me a while to get around to taking the pictures.

    Fine print:
Here are my spare betas. I tried to include version numbers, but some are numbers that may not be versions, I'm not really sure. I would also be happy to trade. Disks can have wear from being used in the press, most do in fact. You could need to clean or resurface the disks. I don't test them all, I don't have the hardware to do so, or the time. Paypal is best, and the only payment method I accept from international buyers. These discs are for collectors, not for distribution or for play (aside from version/bug/development analysis and historical documentation). You can get retail versions of any of these games cheaper if you just want to play something.

Some pictures are attached, but numerous pictures wouldn't fit in the 10 picture per post limit, so I attached them to a series of posts in page#8. Remember, before you ask me about an item pictured elsewhere in the thread, please notice the date of the post and check the list here. If it is not listed, then that item sold. Probably years ago. That is why there I posted pictures, because people wanted to buy the items.

Remember, everything not listed in the first post but pictured elsewhere in the thread, is NOT available. It probably sold. I only confirmed the items listed in the first post.

HOWEVER, I am posted my additional pictures here due to limit of 10 pictures per posting.

Just as a note, there are PC betas pictured in the photos. I hope to have time to list those here in the near future.

I have serious reservations about psone cdrs that old ianoid. I'm going to say that you'll have to verify they work before sale.

There are some serious concerns with this listing:

This statement isn't acceptable. You need to have validation photos to prove you have the items. If you can't control your stock, don't list it here.

You've listed over $11,000 worth of games here. You can't sell them "as-is". They need to be working. That's why you're not listing them on eBay, I assume - you know you'll get bad feedback for non-workers.

Are you talking about after you've sold the discs? If you don't want someone to post a picture of a disc AFTER you've sold it to them, don't list it here. If you only mean don't post any photos you share in private to facilitate the sale, fair enough.

Items must be sent as seen in photos. If you intend to vandalize them and send them in any state other than as-seen, don't list them here.

You know that ALL items need validation. Whilst I appreciate that you have a lot of items to photograph, many were missing at least one piece of information:

    - Your name (ianoid)
    - The forum name (assembler)
    - Today's date

Some of your photos were rather carelessly taken and the validation paper was half out of the frame. Please have some care when taking photos to list here. I know you have a lot and it's time-consuming. You've listed over $11,000 worth of items here, though. FOR FREE. Please have the courtesy to follow the forum rules.

Some items raise serious concerns over their legitimacy - e.g. a $100 final virtua cop 2 that's on a Sega CD-R that was unlabelled but has the game name written in what appears to be your handwriting on the centre.

If you're not going to test items, the thread will be removed. How would you feel if you bought a CD that was either just a retail game burnt on a disc, or was scratched to hell... then the seller said tough, it's in my disclaimer? Pretty peeved, I'd bet.

It's pretty clear that the photos are all from the same arrangements. Are you that strict that looking at these photos, it's not clear that I took them all, that they are not overlapping enough to clearly show what needs to be shown? Really, someone could photoshop a little sign onto any pictures and make it look like they took it. Are my photos not clearly authentic, as much as they could be?

I could remove all the mediocre pictures, but I thought they would add some value to buyers who wanted basic details.

I can add a rule that all names and serials will be crossed out with a sharpie, and I can send pictures directly to any buyers if I make any changes. There really aren't that many, and I made sure not to display them in the pictures, with few accidental exceptions. I figured most people would respect the request, and I'm ok with most, but if it makes more sense to the mods that I deface the names on the discs summarily, I will do that. It is probably safer for the people involved anyway.

I can remove the disclaimers if you wish. They are mainly to prevent people who are not as knowledgeable as the mods and other regulars AGers from buying these bits and thinking they'll work on retail hardware, or that items will be in mint condition, and then causing trouble with paypal or whatever. I prefer to set low expectations (even at premium prices) and then see my customers happy in the end. I stand by every purchase to complete satisfaction. I have a bunch of feedback here as well.

I say everything is untested, but I have tested some of the pricier items (like the Virtuoso discs). It would be a bunch of work to go through every PS3 beta I have listed, but I would be shocked if any of them don't work. And if they don't, I'm not here to take people's money. Items that obviously won't work with massive damage are either not listed or given away for free (in the past). Anything that doesn't work, I'll take as a return. I have too much stuff to sell and too much legacy in the community to want anyone I deal with to feel like they were treated unfairly.

My inventory disclaimer is simply because it's a huge list. I do everything I can to keep it accurate. At this time, it is 100% accurate. I went through every disc. I can remove that disclaimer. I can see how you would take issue with it.

If someone wants to make an offer at any reasonable price, I'm happy to hear it. My goal is certainly to sell this stuff, but I'm pricing according to what a single purchase targeted buyer might pay, who came here just to buy one item (pertaining to a specific game they are seeking out). If you collect betas in general, you will want to find more stuff cheaper- and I'm happy to hear offers on volumes of stuff. It's neat that you have some sense of the value of the items in total as I've listed it, but I don't expect to sell more than a few items a month.

When I'm actively selling on the board, I contribute to your charity drives. I appreciate the unique direction this forum takes in the video game community. I don't take that for granted. There is a reason I don't generally cross post this stuff elsewhere. This is the place to sell weird dev stuff.

If you guys find so much fault with my approach and my attempts to go along with the rules, that's fine, I can pull the thread again. I would much prefer to have my dev stuff sales here and participate in this community, since this is the best place for it. Few people have this much dev stuff to sell, and I think it does have some draw for the forums. Like my prices or not, this stuff is only getting harder to come by. I do want to participate by your rules as best I can, although I don't really have the time to manage images to perfection, especially when I feel that they reasonably follow the letter of your laws.

Is that PGR3 build really for the original Xbox? PGR 1 and 2 were on the Xbox, PGR 3 and 4 were on the Xbox 360.

Thank you so much. I definitely mislisted this. You are absolutely right, it must be a 360 disc. It would be an awesome discovery for original Xbox, but the disc is (c)2005, and must be for 360.

I know, man! I figured it was just an honest mistake but I looked at it and was like "Wait a minute... Is this really a cross gen build that we never saw?!"

I tried to briefly reply, but failed! Uhh... briefly, thanks for the alterations and it's all good (check with Kev as to what he wants tested - I think it'll be 20th century CD-R media, basically - so PSX and Saturn).

    - You need to keep on top of items you list here. I appreciate you took pictures extremely recently so it didn't count at the moment. If you list elsewhere, of course it can be the case that someone asks for something already sold before you remove it. No problem. However, we would expect you keep items listed for sale to hand (even if that's in a box on the wardrobe or in a storage container) in order to be able to fulfil "orders" and remove / mark items once sold. Thanks for rectifying the disclaimer on that.

    - The photo rule is that you need at least a covering validation photo for all items (by which I mean a photo in which there's the required paper and the items can all be identified - as indeed you did by taking pics of 20-30 discs at a time). You're welcome to then post detailed shots where necessary, which don't have to have validation. What I'm saying is don't rush it - I appreciate it takes time to photograph and upload a bunch of discs, but you're hopefully going to make a lot of money if you were to sell them all, so that effort is worthwhile. Make sure your validation sign has the three elements required. That's to satisfy us, to help you prove you have the items and to help users feel confident in buying off you. In this instance, whilst it's rather all over the place (missing date in some, missing forum name in others, the validation half out of shot), I'll let it slide as most images have at least 2 of the 3 required items on the same pieces of paper. In future, though, please take the time to take a proper validation photo - all 3 elements on a piece of paper in the shot. It takes about 10 seconds to write Ianoid @ ASSEMbler 7/7/16 and even less time to place the paper so it's in frame. I'm not expecting perfection, just those 3 elements visible! ;)

    - I think your rule about defacing discs will alienate some potential buyers. If you told me you'd be crossing the developer's name off a 20 year old Saturn disc, I would decline to buy from you (I'm sure it's probably more for newer items, though). However, if you're going to make that decision, it's up to you - you need to do so before you take the photograph, really. If you choose to leave information displayed on the discs / paperwork / whatever, you can't dictate to the buyer that they may not photograph their property after receiving it without censorship. That's not your decision. If you made a promise not to reveal a source, perhaps you shouldn't be reselling the item.

    - A general disclaimer that buyers understand discs probably won't work in (unmodified) retail consoles is fine. However, if you're selling a beta, you either need to state condition (perhaps assume OK by default and mention light / heavy scratches, and when you've tested as OK). I appreciate you can't reasonably be expected to test each game runs from start to finish, but you could run it through a read test on a PC for something that looks a bit ropey after a quick glance at the surface. I'd imagine newer games are OK... like Kev said, PlayStation and Saturn are getting a bit iffy now so might be worth testing with a read checker. If you're willing to accept returns, that's fine... again, I appreciate this could leave you open to issues / dishonesty from buyers.

    - If the thread was totally unacceptable, we would have pulled it. I appreciate your alterations after pointing out a few areas of concern. Your pricing has always been very reasonable - certainly compared to some other bulk beta sellers! Such sales are always appreciated. We don't charge for listing and certainly don't insist on a donation, but they're always appreciated whether the donator appreciates the community for its information, bringing together of like-minded people or platform for sales. So thanks for supporting the site, both with donation and interesting sales! Good luck with them.

Just removed pending from a couple of things as payment didn't happen.

And added this letter I found, an authentic PR letter:
Starlancer promotional letter only (no disc) $25, that came with the beta/preview disc originally. All preview/review discs originally had letters with them.

I know we weren't able to complete our conversation before for a couple of the PSP demos but I am still interested. Let me know what you want for all of the PSP discs you have available and I'll buy them all next Friday. That is when I get paid. PM me please. Thank you.
