Everything perfect now, thanks!
Just to let you know now proper on HD for SMS gives correct time and boots well thanks AKuHAK :triumphant:
Ok I will post my new version here. It is hdl_dump with ability to inject op2l_compatibility flags and dma modes. And of course miniopl with ability to handle flags and compatibility modes from HDL partition headers.
Source codes and command line examples can be found in the main thread in psx-scene.
HDD OSD Icons
I made a few "BASIC" HDD OSD game icons, if you don't want to use game saves. DVD9, DVD5, PS2CD, PS1CD, and a generic PS2 HDD icon.
Thanx to both of you
Your System Configuration Icon
Is it possible to get "Your System Configuration" icon from MC?
Sadly no, the MC folder for it does not have a icon in it.
P.S. I uploaded some Icons, Donwload: http://rghost.net/48179825 No $ony Code
GS Mode Selector
Note: They have not be tested, let me know if any of them do not work. (will fix if needed)
first time posting here.
Does anyone know how to get the icons generated by obj_to_ps2icon to work on the actual PS2?
I can view them correctly with ps2_iconsys_viewer but on the actual consoles they always appear as corrupted data.
I've checked the icon files with a hex editor to see if there was anything wrong on some of the offsets, comparing them to actual working savegame icons but had no luck
Is there any geometry limitation on the 3d icons in the OSD Browser?
Any help would be highly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I have used obj_toPS2icon and managed to get them to show on a real ps2, admittedly I am only using a basic square with a .BMP texture (128x128) Maybe your triangle count is too high? above 1500 may cause problems.
Open an elevated cmd prompt and add the files you need to the same folder your working from, type obj_to_ps2icon.exe -h to get the help to display, Then follow the second example so it spits out a new .icn file. Change the extension to .ico and copy it and its icon.sys to your ps2 with ule, then from there copy and McPaste it to an 8meg card in slot 0 or 1. sorted..
Thanks for the reply
I'm not yet sure what seems to be the issue but the 3d objects I've converted don't have that high a triangle count, but I'll try some other stuff see if I can figure it out. Not sure if it could be something with the texture format or even the normals...
They display fine on the ps2_sysicon_viewer though. I'll keep digging.
Many thanks again
Is your texture a 128x128, 16-bit texture? If your tools don't convert the texture into the correct format, it's supposed to be 128x128, 16-bit, RLE-compressed.
There are some restrictions, but I don't remember what they are, off-hand. The information can be found within the SONY PS2SDK.
Mmmm, the fact that they appear fine in the viewer and not on the PS2 seems to point to a limitation on the console side. Have you tried a very basic shape and 128x128 texture, just to confirm your setup and texture compatibility?
I use GIMP to edit my .tga and .bmp files and although free it has the annoying problem of flipping the images, so I have to flip them to edit, then flip them to export.. I have had success using 128x128 16bit .bmp exported from gimp..
I'm not sure out of the top of my head by I think the obj_to_ps2icon tool doesn't accept 16bit bmp's (or maybe it's some issue with the fields causing that behaviour)
I've been normally using photoshop for the images cause that's where I usually create textures...
I'll make sure to check all that and do some further testing
Edit: It seems the polycount might be the culprit... I've tested a somewhat even more basic 3d object and managed to make it show in the OSD
Many thanks for the help, guys
where can i find the official disc icons that show up in browser? ps2 sdk?
Those icons are built into the browsers.
so there no way to get them?
In PS2 3D-icon format aka PS2MC icon.
You are welcome.
Dat display angle tho...
Fantastic!! Thank you..
Do you think the "flat" angle of the discs is because you can't normally display copy/delete/info etc on a disc in the HDDOSD? Maybe?
Separate names with a comma.
