Tell me more
Don't know what else to say! My n64 gamebit isn't working on opening this thing but I'm going to try the bic pen method sometime this week.
would love to know how to play this via everdrive
I'm not sure if you're allowed to link roms here but you can find the n64 rom pretty easily with google and throw it on your everdrive.
We've known about this ever since the rom was dumped, I guess not everyone
You know how it goes, Reddit discovers something ten years later and it's suddenly new again.
Yeah true, the other one is being able to play Mario 64 on the cube using the same OOT emulator with only very minor issues
I think we're all too hung up on the Master Quest rom and not how a Chinese dude with his own custom game board: flashed a n64 rom file onto the board, made it with an oem cartridge shell, and made a pretty good custom label. All for only $25. Has anyone else seen a product like this yet? We could get English Animal Forest on it's own cart, Goldeneye X, Wolfenstein, etc etc....I thought N64 fans have been dreaming for carts like these for ages? I don't think the excitement from reddit is unwarranted. The point of my video was not to reveal that Master Quest was always a n64 file but just the implications for the n64 scene in general (if that didn't come across :/)
They are on aliexpress, it's been mentioned in a thread recently. The guy who makes them even posted here.
It's a different guy oddly enough, just bought myself a copy from curiosity. Link
There's actually a lot in the works for this sort of board. No idea about that China board, but I know this guy is close to releasing a N64 board that anyone can flash their own games onto: http://www.retrostage.net/n64_blaster.htm
I'd be very interested to see the quality of the board the China guys use. I've seen some pirate carts in the past and they all have one thing in common - terrible soldering and cheap PCBs.
Got a link? That sounds interesting.
Edit: I got mine from a different seller: https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?orderId=80886520841799&productId=32776965102
Is Master Quest the version with Gamecube buttons or with N64 buttons?
I thought master quest had n64 looking buttons.
Nintendo used gamecube buttons. master quest is an n64 rom, never released for the n64.
Tthere's patches that put the N64 buttons (back?) in there, which might have been applied before making the repro. Would be a nice touch if that's been done.
Link was dead or not working but found it with this link:
