    a quick update:

here is my cart for the Super Everdrive + USB:

I made it from a PAL Killer Instinct black box.
I made the label with photoshop to match (at 90%) an old original nintendo prototype label.

I think it desserve very well the piece of art the Super Everdrive is !

edit: sorry for the big pict ! (i don't know how to reduce it ...)

derekb try to make full format on PC. but it should be full format, not fast. full format will take few minutes.
extra 0x20 in your dump just not used, so it can not change something.
last 6 bytes in row by x050 address it is file size and pointer to data, but they are same

KRIKzz I've done full format from PC multiple times, it is definitely a problem somewhere in Everdrive's code.

I'll just live with it being broken if you aren't willing to investigate your code, nevermind

if it could help, mine comes with chrono trigger on it and no rom where visibles until I format the SD via the Super Everdrive's menu.
(but I did format the SD under windows twice before...).

after what I added the OS-V6 + stdout & stderr files on it and everything went OK.

no rom where listed exception of chrono trigger which had surely been here for testing the cart by KRIKzz before he sending it...

derekb can you make a dump of your SD cart and send it to me?
if you put just few files on SD card after full format, then zipped dump should not be have big size

I just made two dumps using dd, one is a copy of the SD card which does NOT work (unknowntype0) in which the rom was extracted straight to the sd card and then inserted in everdrive

the other is one that DOES work in which I renamed the roms extension to .mf and then back to .md

sd card was full formatted prior to the rom being extracted initially

keep in mind these compressed really well because only 1 rom is on the sd card, they'll uncompress almost a gig each

I forgot to mention, in the 'extract straight to sd' situation, I also experienced problems with the Dir listings in which contents of one directory would bleed into the listing of another directory

extra 0x20 is not a unused byte, that is fat record atribute, and 0 it is wrong value, so problem by this reason. i don't know why you system create wrong fat records. you are extract files dirrectly on SD? may be your archive tool can't write correctly? or may be you use some file manager?
anyway i can try to remove some checks from os to fix this problem

I tried extracting with both 7Zip and WinRAR, both wrote 0x00 instead of 0x20 to the SD card, very odd

Ya that way works fine, windows explorer writes proper 0x20 byte. I guess it is an odd problem with winrar/7zip then, how odd. If it is big pain for you to work around then do not bother, atleast we figured out what problem was

strange indeed, maybe it could be a combination of winrar + my sd adapter, who knows! Hope we will see fat32/sdhc support soon btw :)
