wait, that was ECCO 2?! :|

I clearly recall the 'gem' being sold WITH the box, although the man said he'd make a copy for himself before selling it.

The guy came onto IRC and offered the possibility of a devkit to me, he attempted to be semi-sneaky but it was obvious that it was the same seller. Never agreed on a price but I made it clear I was not about to pay out the nose just because the USD was doing bad by comparison to the Euro.

According to the seller, he was asked by Appaloosa, the new studio, to take the auction down, as well as the YouTube videos of the game running.

This person here has the converted YouTube videos:

The actual game data was on an HKT-06 GD-R disc, which was used in his YouTube video. The hard drive only consisted of unplayable pre-alpha source.

I wasn't so keen on the idea of 'Ecco 2' but I guess the videos are reasonable proof of its existance.

The quoted text in the link below was very similar to the email I received from the eBay seller: stingerhu.

The videos being on American servers don't bother Hungary, however his selling of source code would.

    Ecco II for DC...who knew...

Am I the only one who never really liked DC Ecco?...or Ecco in general? I always found it PAINFULLY slow and uninteresting...

Yeah exactly the same here. I always loved the whole together with the excellent tunes but somehow it just didn't work for me gameplay wise.

It's an intellectual game, not morph into mecha-ecco and blast aliens.

You guys do realize that there was an "Ecco" game released after the series was cancelled, right?

It just didn't ship as an "Ecco" title because no one was interested in publishing another game in a franchise with declining sales numbers. :)
