GP 's right again 2:26 in he video, btw. Read the part where I referred to kids just out of diapers. Taken from here Trust me. That's why he's not Rockman.
I knew "rocks" were a slang for crack, and crack was a fairly new pandemic amongst some minority groups in America starting in the 80's...but also Rock was a term for music as well that stemmed further than crack. A crack dealer being called a "rock man" sure...I can see that. But I really doubt even Tipper Gore would have made that connection with the game. Maybe it's because I'm already accustomed to Mega Man, but the thought of a "Rockman" makes me think of one of his villains instead.
I stand corrected. Though as far as I can tell, all my sources say MixALot was a one hit wonder with baby got back I'm sure rock was slang for Crack before that.
I always thought it had to do with him being the "best" out off all the other androids, who all had "man" in their names, cutman, fireman, Gutsman, etc.
Thing is, is that Mega Man fits with the character. You say rockman and I picture a guy with a suit that looks like rocks, not blue metal.
Posse's on Broadway made him. Fuck they played that song all god damn day. If she was in touch w/ young people when that song came out, she definitely would have. My mom turned it off every time it came on the radio for that lyric alone. Nah, it comes from "Rock 'n Roll". Which is weird, as Mega is such a Japanese-friendly word.
