I don't suppose you found a copy of Populous in there somewhere?

    :)

Bloomin eck' - why on earth would someone have so many copies of one game?!! You might want to check old news reports for a mass-theft of Populous carts from a security truck or warehouse!

Great find - do any of the proto collectors here recognise any of the carts? It might shed light on who the original owner was.

One of the snes protos is written Castlevania by the way :)
the other one which can not easy be read is speedy gonzales proto.
About the populous carts: Maybe they are NOT all Populous, the writing is with permanent marker written on the blank cart. Could be something else? Cant wait to find out :)

Edit: Its Castlevania Vampires Kiss Proto!!! Awesome!

Honestly, I wouldn't really want to pay anything until I saw picture of the interior of the cart. Every time I see someone who just registered posting about incredibly rare things and title like Earthbound candidly asking about rarity I find that it smell incredibly fishy. But then again I must be paranoid. I do hope something get out of this thread though because if everything is as it should, they really found the mother load!

    Hi there!

Totally understandable that it smells a bit fishy, but honestly - i got those Carts in my Hand and as far as i can tell right now thats real, genuine stuff. The thing is i actually registered here for asking about those Carts because i simply didnt know what they are and i never saw anything like them before. My first thought on reading " US Version Rom " on these carts was: " Maybe thats a reproduced Cart with a downloaded Game Rom flashed on it. " I simply did not know that Prototypes exist!

I ordered a Cartridge opening tool yesterday - expect it to arrive Monday or Tuesday - i will provide pictures of the interior next Week. Maybe they are half reproduced Fakes, i cant tell - but they look and feel very real.
The one thing i can guarantee right now is that i registered here for REALLY asking what these Carts are, because i didnt know. Im serious, believe it or not! ;)

EDIT: I tested a lot of Prototypes Yesterday, just the PAL Versions until now which fit into my SNES. They are all working
Konami Cartridges RH054 are NBA Give n GO
Konami Cartridges RH048 is International Superstar Soccer Deluxe
the weird asian text Cartridge is Super Star Wars
The Cartridge written with: SESB is - Super Empire Strikes Back
Castlevania VK is Castlevania Vampire's Kiss
i tested 8 Populous, all working, all Populous, Mainmenu looks the Same - still 33 Populous to test :-/

Nighty, keep up the good work.
A few more days and you'll have all the Populous tested for us! :victorious:
I am looking forward to your tools arriving so we can see the innards! :congratulatory:

It's obvious that some of the cart are real, like the N64 proto. I'm just surprised at the amount of stuff you found without even trying. Bit jealous actually lol. It's just so hard to conceive that such a find is possible. And 40 Populous carts? I wonder why someone would have so many... In any case, you need to dump everything you can!

Without even trying is not correct. I'm always searching for Nintendo Stuff for my Collection, i got a lot of other "casual" stuff from that guy before he offered me the Protos.

About the dumping - Maybe i will sell these protos - so no dumping until i decided. Have to think about that, sorry!

You'll probably want to dump them regardless to better compare them to the release versions, so if you sell them people know what they're buying.

Yeah look like it would fit. Tested all 41 Populois Carts - all Populous - cant see that intro for just one more time in my whole life!!!
All looking the same - just checked until the main menu...

N64 protos all work exept for Aerofighters Assault and one unknown game ( Label says International Superstar Soccer but that is overlined with a marker and another label says:
    HAL ( or is the L a C ? )
    Eng. Ver
    Eur - 4
    9/32

guess these teo games are not PAL versions. No Pal label on them either.

    The others are all fine!
Playing Gauntlet Legends needs to skip the intro by pressing start - otherwise it gets stuck.
