If you don't you'll be kicking yourself with all those carts and no way to dump them! :biggrin-new:
I definitely echo and support the idea of releasing whatever isn't released into public domain.
Of course you could also drop Assembler a line to see if a fundraiser would be alright to cover costs.
I'm fairly sure there's some rules on doing fundraisers around here somewhere.

Here's hoping you find some way past cool prototypes! :friendly_wink:

Edit: Are the Retrodes the best way to dump these carts? I have no experience outside of the Sega arena... so I have no clue!

Why would sunlight erase games that are in shielded cases? Not to mention the N64 cartridges are FLASH NOT EPROM.
Bit rot occurs with uncovered EPROM chips that have no sticker on them and aren't in a case.

You definitely have to know what's on the carts first, for one. You can't have fundraisers for something that's just called a prototype and that's it. People need to know if it's different from the final, else it's not worth the money. People can usually get away with doing that when they'll selling carts(and people get away with that sooo often), but if it's a fundraiser for ROMs, there needs to be more concrete proof of what you're paying for rather than just a gamble.

I tried asking to do a fundraiser like that once, where I had a cart but didn't have any way to dump it, so asked Assembler if a fundraiser would be OK to I could raise funds for a Retrode to dump it. He rejected it and looking back I dunno why I thought people should pay for something they have no idea what it contains. Well, except for cases like when drx found that Sonic 2 cart some years back but needed funds to obtain it. Since it turned out to be that Nick Arcade proto, everyone was lucky there.

Well now i understand what you mean with Fundraiser. Sorry english is not my primary language ;)
No need for a Fundraiser! I ordered a Retrode yesterday to, at least, dump the snes roms.
I also ordered a N64 Adapter, but today i got told that the Retrode CAN NOT dump N64 Protos, even with the Adapter :-(
retrode Homepage also says: N64 / Flash / EPRom > Not supported - just the usual Rom is supported :-(

You'd need something like a Z64 to dump the N64 cartridges.

Any copier I think would work.

    Wildcard, z64, CD64, V64 etc

That is talking about save types, not the games. It still might work, I was hoping someone would be able to test this, since I don't have any proto N64 carts.

I really dont know if i dare to try, just read this sentence on the retrode Homepage in the adapter category:

" Since N64 and GBA run at 3.3V instead of the Retrode’s 5V, there is a slight risk of cart damage without an additional voltage converter (though I’ve yet to fry my first GBA or N64 cartridge, and I always use 5V). "

I wont risk any damage :-(

Retrode 2 has a voltage selector in it for 3.3 and 5 volts, no problem there. All my N64 games work fine with 3.3 volts.

Ok, so the Parcels arrived today - and after unpacking them im still slightly shaking...
Heres some new Photos showing all Carts, dont ask me why there are 41 pieces of " Populous NTSC " Carts, i dont know, maybe the prevoius owner bought them all together at once. I guess they are Demo Carts...
Gotta wait for my Retrode to arrive, then i can tell more about them.

The N64 Proto with the Midway Sticker on it, has a Sticker on the back says " Gauntlet Legends Final "

I am going to take them to a safer location later on :D
So i now need to calm down a bit and then decide keep em or sell em...

Any of you know what these Konami RH054 , RH048 Carts are??
