Now normally I wouldn't post about an unreleased fan-game, but this is just amazing. A fully 3d remake of chrono trigger.

    The original Square SNES game:

Do yourselves a favor and watch the in-game trailer, the fact that this didn't come out will make you want to cry.

I did hear that the developers continued to privately work on the game however,

See this topic for more details on them trying to finish it privately

I never understood why people put so much effort into a remake when you can really be creative and think of great things when you just design your own game.

This project did look good though, i wonder if it also played good.

I remember talking about this when I first registered here.

I think Square should allow these guys to work for them or develop the game and buy it or whatever. I saw great potential in this project, but then again, I've heard a lot of the screenshots were fake, or not made with the engine they were using / going to use.

Speaking of this, the 2D OOT game has had some more work done on it lately. The main thing I don't understand is how they are going to emulate the Water Temple, and other dungeons in general that require depth perception, since OOT is 3d.

I had the chance to talk with the projects lead a few months back but passed it up unfortunatly :(

Maybe they could release it and claim that someone from the group had leaked the game and they couldnt do anything about it. I personally thing square-enix should buy this game and release it for ps2, ps3 and psp. They would make billions. Almost as much as they would make for a Final Fantasy 7 remake

Whats the friggin point? They'll just get sued. Unless they anonymously dump it to a site like rapidshare or Megaupload from another PC and it spreads everywhere, they can't officially release anything unless they are retarded. Even if they did anonymously dump it, they'd get sued since someone at Nintendo or Square-Enix would get wind of it. Since this ain't no Rom hack, and I guess they are afraid of it since they didn't think of it sooner.

I think some people are being overly optimistic about it.

I don't think fan made/doujin games should be 3D for the most part. They almost always turn into some low-poly college-project looking mess. Then again, most 1st party 3D adaptions to 3D usually look like a gigantic turd as well.

Zeenbor is my ex roommate and friend. He is the main coder responcible for this. The project was done mainly to progress his skills as a programer. I did the same thing in the PSP homebrew scene with making iris and a n64 emulator. It was mainly to help progress my skills as a programmer.

The game always continued after square said no because again it's just helping zeenbor further him self as well it was a great presentation to get him his current job with a major dev studio.

also fyi, it's great when you get to run it in real time in front of you.

Well tell him the community would love to see it in real time as well.

Any chance of putting it up in the file section, just for members of assmebler.

    We'd love you for life

Yeah, I saw it. I'm not easily pleased though, and the older I get, the more I seem to hate new stuff (eg 3d).

I thought the whole ordeal was stupid. These guys loved Chrono Trigger so much that they made a better version of it, which would only help popularize the franchise, and Square-Enix threatened to sue.

    Just ridiculous.
