In 2011, some of us had started work on a HDLoader game installer that installs PlayStation 2 games onto the HDD unit for use with the HDDOSD. The games could be booted directly from the HDDOSD as if they were DLCs from the PSBBN.

The software uses a GUI-less version of OPL to emulate the CD/DVD drive.

Although the project is still considered to be under development, I've considered about putting it into the beta-testing phase as I think that most functions have already been completed.

Originally, it was tested amongst a handful of people that work with me... but it seems like most of them have become too busy with real life nowadays. I'll still like to reach a conclusion for this project soon, hence now I'm appealing to the public for open-beta testers. (Actually, I'm just making a release now, lol)

    What does this system offer?
    1. Installs all PlayStation 2 games from the CD/DVD drive.
    2. Installs all PlayStation 2 games remotely from a PC, over a network.
    3. Installed games can be booted directly from the HDDOSD.
    4. Allows the user to manage games locally on the PlayStation 2 console itself.
    5. Allows the user to manage games remotely from a PC, over a network.
    6. Network performance uses the latest ethernet modules from the PS2SDK, giving about 4MB/s.
    7. Allows the user to specify the savedata icon to use with the game.
    8. Supports games >4GB and DVD-DL games.
    9. DVD9 games are supported from the PC client only, as the CDVDMAN module within the boot ROMs of all consoles does not support DVD9 layer 1.

    Prerequisites:
    1. A PlayStation 2 console.
    2. A HDD unit and network adaptor (clones MAY/MAY NOT work).

The copy of OPL that is used may be a little outdated though. It'll get updated once in a while.

HDLoader game installer v0.800 OBT released!

It's now released for everybody to enjoy!

You will need a working installation of the HDDOSD (Browser v2.00) to be able to fully enjoy all the features of this installer. I won't be writing a guide for getting it for those users with non-Sony HDDs, since it's copyrighted and isn't my work anyway.

If you wish to commit a guide for doing that, please feel free to do so!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am now looking out for people to translate the installer. Thanks!

EDIT 2: I realized that I can't edit the thread's title. Please mods/admins, I'll be grateful if the "CBT" text could be dropped from it!

Minor fix - IOP reset readded

Sorry, but apparently I was wrong and the IOP reset cannot be removed. Apparently even uLaunchELF isn't resetting the IOP before launching an ELF, and I believed in it! D:

I've re-added the IOP reset and re-uploaded the package. If you have downloaded the packages from before I made this post, please re-download!

It won't work. It was coded to support being launched from Memory Cards, a CD/DVD, or a USB mass storage device. HDD support will require the ATA interface and filesystem modules.

Actually, when I wrote the reply to your original message, I forgot that this software is the HDLoader game installer... which means that it does have the ATA module and filesystem drivers. My reply should have been that it won't work because it wasn't designed to understand the path that would be passed to it by the loader, when it is launched from a partition on a HDD unit. In other words, despite having the necessary modules to support the HDD, it won't be able to find the path to itself. D:

It should be something that could be added, but it wasn't a planned feature originally. :/

    Thanks.

Sure. This time, feel free to spread this for as far as you wish. And feel equally free to give feedback, although I may not be able to fix everything in my current state.

    Thank you!

If you're talking about FMCB, that one... is a different matter. It's not entirely my project, and there isn't too much to translate anyway.

To clarify; this is a network-only installer, correct? If so, I'm having some issues over the network. I have ulaunch set up to make my ps2's ip address 192.168.1.22. I can ping that address just fine. When I run the elf file however, HDLGManClient cannot connect to it. I've forwarded the port that was asked in the read me, and it just can't connect.

You can either install games with the installer itself (using your PlayStation 2 console's CD/DVD drive) or over the network with a Windows PC. There's a chance that there is a bug with it being unable to load the IP address (well, it never loaded my PS2's IP address properly before), but I haven't taken a look at that one yet. :S

Unfortunately, the default IP address used by this program is 192.168.0.10. If your network supports it (it doesn't seem that it will, since you assigned 192.168.1.22 as your PS2's IP address, so the host range for your network is probably 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255), you could try connecting to that address instead.

If it really is a bug, sorry about that... but it probably means that the network feature may be a little dysfunctional for you. D:

If I do get the time to sort this out (assuming that it's a bug), it'll get released along with the language updates.
