    Our conversation in this thread:

    http://assemblergames.com/threads/ps1-mayumi-4-0-12f683-12f675-12f629.54179/

Got a little off-topic from the original subject. So I made a new thread to continue that discussion on 750x, NeoKey, etc.

750x ported for 12F629 (should also work for 12F675, original for 12C508 included) - tested and confirmed to work by @Apexseal :

12F683 (requested by @truemaster1 , edit: tested and confirmed to work now):

[edited so broken link now works.]

Just did a 39001 GH-022 and worked like a charm, using the "SX" point from the MODBO diagram and lifting the resistor on the usb port (don't know if it is really necessary but did it anyways.

Don't get why there is a 1uF capacitor on the Data line that can take 63V? What for 63V, maybe 16V will be more than enough?

Since the old days I use 1uf 16v that is more than enough unless you plug the wall connector thru the usb LOL...

The voltage on that capacitor is just the maximum rating. You often see 1uF 63V because 1uF is very little (for an electrolytic) and the physical size allows for such a high voltage rating.

Yea, I'm quite hopeful that Sony never bothered to secure PSX mode more over the initial models.

Sorry if I missed 0's on the numbers LOL... Hope this helps some of you... I believe security is for PS2 mode games only. 051-052.jpg 7701 ini02.jpg 56789.jpg

So I tried the mod on my PAL GH-013 machine and it's as I feared:
The BIOS probably checks the license data; Only PAL copies work.
    That or I'm missing something.

Edit: Yep, it works after patching the game region to PAL.
I edited an NTSC game to PAL and it runs either directly from boot or alternatively in NTSC with the PS1 region mode changer.

@truemaster1 , if you (or anyone else) test out 12F683 version please let me know if it worked for you so I can confirm that it works. :)

@rama , which version did you use when you tested it? 12C508 or 12F629? Just curious, thanks :)

Just to confirm also, all you have to do is install just this PIC into your PS2, and it boots burned PS1 games without issues? Don't need the dongle that was mentioned, right?

@Mord.Fustang I don't have any 12F683 around so I used a plain 12F508. Also I built the USB version using the 750x hex. I had to remove the "resistor", which is actually an smd ferrite bead.
The mod works somewhat reliably. The backup boots 1 out of 3 times. The problem is probably the hex sending "A" and "I" SCE strings as well.

I'm sure we can whip up a nicer hex until then, @truemaster1 . All it has to do is spew the correct SCEX string for the console region. No timing, no other region strings. Maybe we can even get away with just "E", "A" or "I". I remember reading somewhere that the mechacon only looks at the last letter :p
