Wait, so if I can get five people to sign away thier right to vote in exchange for an ipod, does that mean I then get to vote five times?

'Cause I'll go take out a loan and buy 10 million Ipods.

This is just sad but considering the state of our political system I can't say I'm suprised.

Well unless you're a billonaire who wants to be president at any cost, I'll say is a waste of money.

At $299 per unit you'll need $2990000000 bucks to pull this off...

Ignorant people are the problem. Hope these people don't own a company or raise a family (which they will most likely do).

That would be anarchy, not democracy.

A lack of government is the definition of anarchy, and in no way, shape, or form did I imply that in my post.

Democracy as originally conceptualized embodied the idea that man basically knew right from wrong and should be allowed to make his own choices, barring murder, theft, or something else blatantly wrong. I'm not going to dig this up in a dictionary, though, so I could be wrong if someone wants to nitpick (and knowing this place, I'm sure someone will).

If you browse through the blog trash you can find this:

I know I would do this. For $1 million (assuming the current exchange rates), you could do a lot more to change the election results than by casting several votes till the end of your life.

like voting in NYC matters, that state has been blue since they invented the color.

Our college was in a dry county, and students bitched and moaned about it. Whenever the issue was able to be voted on, students didn't care enough to go. Millions of people don't mind bitching about stuff, but don't care enough to go change it. People who are indifferent to voting isn't new.

Well, yeah, what we have is not exactly a democracy but a representative government system. We can choose who's gonna rule us, but we cant actually choose what we want to do.

The irony is that when democracy was created almost 2500 years ago in Athens it was a direct democracy where people would vote in public forums about what should be done.

They're going to NYU. Therefore, you can blame them for being stupid but not for being ignorant. There's a difference.

Never said I'd pay the loan back ;)

Anyway, yeah I don't fool myself into thinking I live in a democracy. When the canidate who makes the most money is pretty much always the one that wins, it's not really a democracy then, is it?

Of course I still hold out hope that the system can be reformed. But one must be realistic about these things.

Is not a democracy if the leader(s) dont do what the people want, plain and simple.
