Sure, but then there's the factor that a console is a machine solely dedicated to running one app at a time (more or less). That's why the PS2 could do 1080i in the first place, an equivalent PC could never do that.

    OK, now it's official.

Another detail: The PSU has been internalized. Not that many people will run into this problem, but that's bad news if you like your hardware imported and powered by a separetely bought, domestic PSU. meh.

Anyone find anything about that "streamlined controller"?

    Unless the PSU is universal.

I don't see how it would be able to run 4k games at 60fps. It wouldn't be possible in such a small case. Plus the technology isn't quite there yet.

There's three product lines, but really only two.

The old XBone which will stop being made soon.
The slim replacement can play 4k video with better hdmi for movies plus has HDR range, even though there's almost no HDR screens. HDR is the future and looks amazing.

The new more powerful system has limited BC with older games, some games will get a graphical improvement with patches, but most will never get graphical upgrades. Aliasing
and some other effects may be available as an enhancement on all games.

Newer games will have optimizations in them for the new and future systems. It has an all new cpu and gpu (amd 8 core, amd polaris based gpu).

The more powerful system will cost about $499 and will be able to play at 4K resolution, but will not be computer "ultra" levels of graphics. It will be slightly better than xbox one level of graphics at 4K, so I would not be terribly excited. 4K graphics needs a lot of power which this gpu cannot do at 4k. It is a very cut down version of the 480 polaris with slower memory.

The intriguing part of the new system is if the graphics scale by resolution; if so it will look "ultra" at 1080p60, but also can do 4k at "okay" level of graphics.

The shared ownership of an xbox and pc version of the same product would indicate
some form of digital locking of the product to the owner, and non-resellable discs with product keys.

    4k, 6 teraflops, hdr

All buzzwords, no one is getting $600 gpu graphics for $499 with ram, cpu, hdd, and controller.

Don't forget, the VR headset you'll need it about $400 bucks, so you'll be $1000 deep in the pocket.

    $1000.

It will probably just be if you buy the digital version of a game it will include the other systems version as well, I am OK with this :/

Also on this talk of scaling settings! I kinda like that idea of the settings automatically changing presets depending on resolution or frame rate target provided said target could be set by the user, Add to that a proper settings menu on consoles so people could still fine tune their experience and it would be perfect.

That makes me feel better, No idea when I'll get an XBONE now though after that Sony presser and all the preordering I was doing on Amazon last night.

6 Teraflops is Project Scorpio, not the Xbox One Slim. And for the curious:

Interesting. I really didn't expect the push for console 4K gaming so soon.

They'll probably have identical 1080p performance though. Who cares about 6 dickflops...where are the games?

If Scorpio is targeting a Holiday 2017 release, I don't expect to hear anything concrete on its games until next E3.

Well I just tought the kinect port was there because all the speech about any acessories/compatibility/whatever of previous Xbox Ones?

It's a bit surprising, it should mean that the dance games don't sell consoles enough to warrant the cost of a connection.

Man, you want to let up on your Microsoft bashing. It's becoming very annoying.

Here, read something written by people who know what they are talking about - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-xbox-one-project-scorpio-spec-analysis

The Xbox One S IS NOT a new super console. It's Just a redesigned Xbox One with the bonus ability to play HDR 4K BluRay discs. It's no different to when they released the 360 slim or when Sony released various renditions of the PS2 and PS3. The Scorpio is the new system and yes it will be much more powerful than Sony's PS4K Neo system. The link above is Eurogamer's Digital Foundry. A group that really do know their shit and are never fall to fanboyism.

I think microsoft are panicking as sony will be first to market with VR.

The only thing that will make people wait is the promise of even more power.
