Honestly speechless. Either way definitely a big blow to Sony.

only a few games are gonna be supported, all my favorites don't stand a chance of getting BC .

    Not if

    A) You already have a 360
    B) it's anything like the 360 BC which is limited as fuck.
    C) Remastered collections negate this :p

Edit- YEESH, to even play these games you have to download them. Even if you have them on disc they need to download to the system. The XBONE hard drive is limited enough as it is since you can't swap it out.

    Useless new feature confirmed.

Could of sworn it was only the early beta that supported only a few games.

It's cool that the Xbox One will receive backwards compatibility. Having a limited backward compatibility is better than having none.

But just why the fuck do you have to download the games ? Doesn't make any sense.

Hopefully there won't be glaring emulation issues like there was with the 360's BC. Maybe that's why they want the games installed. That and cut down on loading, etc.

That could be the case, but why can't you install the game from the disc ? Why do you have to download it ?

It's not an issue for me, but I'm sure that a lot of people won't like having to download multiple 8gb games.

Really impressive and a big surprise! I wonder if this uses "cloud" tech to accomplish the emulation? I would be surprised if the CPU could emulate the PPC cores in the XB360.

This is a nice feature but I'm not looking forward to it. It won't be every game that we will be able to play on the Xbone so expect to see just most known games. I think having a X360 is still a way better solution.

I must have missed the part about having to download the game. So then it isn't as simple as putting a 360 disc into the Xbone?

Q: How do I play an Xbox 360 game on my Xbox One?

A: You must own a supported Xbox 360 title. If you have a supported digital version of the game, you can install the game from the “Ready to Install” section of My games & apps. If you have a disk version of the game, you can simply insert the disk into your Xbox One console.

Then the game installs itself to the XBONE just like next gen games I assume.

Just like how the 360 was limited with original XB games.

I hear that you will be able to play any game as long as the developers approve it...

Here we go again with the Microsoft hate. Right, for a start the 360 backwards compatability let's me play Simpsons Hit & Run and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Some backward compatability is better than none. Secondly the Xbox One HD doesn't need to be removed because the system has 4 USB ports, two of which are USB 3. Meaning you can connect two more massive 2 TB hard drives (even solid state) if you need more space.

I didn't know that, I thought you were stuck with whatever was in the box. I'll probably get an XBONE, But only after a PS4 and Wii U.

The question is... why didn't the XB1 already have this ability? It's not like the hardware will be different in the systems.

Think they were withholding this feature for an emergency?

It took time to build the 360 emulation it loads in order to run the 360 emulator which runs the 360 games, it can handle anything except usb accessories and the 360 kinect.
All that is needed for a game to be added to the Xbox One catalog is for the owner to sign off on it.
