XBOX | Flash TSOP with modchip installed

I just got an Xbox with an Aladdin chip installed (press power for 3 seconds to boot from it). The original TSOP is working and untouched which I want to flash with a custom bios. My plan was to enable write (soldier the two points on the motherboard), remove the d0 wire from the modchip/board, flash the TSOP with HeXen and connect d0 again... When everything works as expected, I can boot two different bioses.

My question, will this work or must I remove the the modchip completely in able to to flash TSOP. If anyone has a easier solution, please let me know

 

- use your modchip to boot hexen and install a softmod
- remove modchip and verify softmod works
- do the tsop rebuild stuff and boot hexen to flash it
- done! remove softmod
- boot from tsop/modchip, your choice
- enjoy!

 

Thanks for you explanation, but my question remain. I don't want to completely remove the modchip (no pin header)...

 

ah... try desoldeting the D0 wire then and see if you can access the flash that way... I am pretty sure that without the D0 the modchip is inactive

 

Install a softmod dash.
Get everything set up to flash including the BIOS.
Boot console.
Disconnect the D0 wire to disable the modchip
Start the flasher tool.
Flash away. Without D0 connected it will go to the TSOP even with a modchip connected.
Remove softmod dash.
Reboot to verify flash worked.
Reconnect D0.
DONE!

You cant boot from LPC and then flash the TSOP.

 

Then why did it work for me?

EDIT: Thought about it and I listed my directions wrong hence the confusion. what I'm saying involves booting the console off the stock BIOS on the TSOP hence the need for the softmod. So the "proper" directions go like this:

Install softmod.
Disconnect D0.
Be sure HDD is locked.
Start console on the TSOP.
Load flasher tool.
Flash BIOS.
Restart to test.
If all is well then reconnect D0.
Done.

If the flash went wrong then you will need a modchip that allows for flashing the TSOP to fix it.

That all works if the HDD is:

A)lockable
B)has the same HDD key as is in the EEPROM
