Mate, if one of those Beta 1 Xedk's are ever for sale. ill buy! EDIT: i gotta add man, i am F***ing jealous of what you have here, those condemned betas look really neat! looking at all these makes me want to expand my collection even further, the way i see it nothing beats a COMPLETE XeDK, i mean that XNA kit you have is a BEAUTY. but im really into beta versions of consoles, i like how the beta-1's have no 360 engraving on the shell. i would love to know the price of a clean one like that? I always had an idea that with the XDK i own now, i MIGHT be able to trade it off to someone who is tired of their Xedk, (since it cant run XEX2 ) but i doubt that would ever happen xD so paying straight up cash makes more sense, any tips on getting a clean on like this?
If you read the little paragraph under the boxed beta 1s you will see what happened, and the last pic I put up in the other post, that was sold to sneaky peanut which then I believe went to gelberhase. I did mate, these are all photos at least 2 years old now. The ones I've just posted are randoms I found from an old folder from my blackberry as card, all other photos are in relevant folders. Hence the new avatar in case anyone's interested, left to right is; Refurbed Zephyr with sidecar, packaging and starters manual Minty fresh Jasper Beta 2 XeDK with prototype HDD Blue XNA expo 1GB kit
I was commenting on The new referring to it as "lost". I can imagine selling off, but not necessarily losing everything.
Agreed, unless your house burnt down or something (which is no laughing matter, and is not to be taken as a joke) or they have been sold off, how did they get lost? D:
A lot of it was sold, but the last of my stuff, was taken, which therefore took me out of the scene I'm back now though in hope that its all calmed down. Like I said mate, its in the paragrah, MS stepped in and pretty much stripped me, also if anyone remembers, they also visited shark from TTG and a friend of mine. All bad times......
taken 0.o? shit. EDIT: oh sorry mate :/ couldn't find that text lol, ok. in my HONEST opinion, you are all entitled to give me crap for it, BUT. If M$ was dumb enough to ALLOW these consoles to be sent out to people (reviewers, testers, the like..) what did they expect? really. that these consoles were never gonna make it into public hands? come on now.. i think they shouldn't have ANY right to put fear into our minds by them doing such things, what is wrong with us owning XDK's? they are sitting on a shelf, LITERALLY sitting there, not harming the xbox live service, not doing anything, what gives them the right to fuck us over and say " nope, see those consoles on your shelf there, yeah they are ours, you sir can go fuck your self, if you don't gimme back my devkit, ill sue you" which then... i guess if you have your house raided by swat, are you really gonna stand up and say.. "no!" no of course not, your gonna give in, how are you gonna say "NO" to an m16 machine gun. you are then forced to give up these beautiful pieces of hardware. that there. is SOME bullshit.
Yep, I was selling about 3 maybe 4 kits a month, I wasnt exactly low key, though they only stepped in at the point of the two boxed beta 1s and said it was still their property, which legally, yes, but its just pure jobsworth ms. They were and only could have been collectors items, could not have been used maliciously. My guess is they wouldve just been destroyed like all other waste kits.
Its fine mate. I think they've got their heads stuck down now working out how to sell the Xbox One, since they are doing a miserable job of it so far haha. Seriously though I think theyve calmed down on being hard asses and see that we only collect because we have a passion for their work.
I cant speak for MS, but I assume its all calmed down, and having a personal kit and using it for personal use, should be all ok now, and due to the fact PNet is whitelisted, that removes the threat of intellectual property being stolen (how I got in trouble in the first place, before the kits got taken). It used to be crazy back in the day kits were coming through thick and fast, I used to have a 'shop' over at se7ensins and shark had his over at TTG. I guess that really ticked microsoft off.
God damn man. that's quite the story to tell your grand children xD what exactly... happened? if you don't mind me asking of course, were they obscure about it and busted down your door? or did they start off with emails. then moved up to phone calls, until getting.. perhaps police involved? what went down
They already had my details when they collected the kits. The first time it was two lawyers at my door early on a saturday or sunday morning, one from MS and one from Activision (who was also a lawyer for Blizzard, even before the team up so I did find that a bit strange) it was only a cease and desist order, which I found fair of them, although I missed or over read the part where it also stated that I had hacked a desktop over at Activision's studio, which I never did but it was all friendly and better than a lawsuit, ending up like xenon7 or nathan leroux, so I wasn't too bothered. Second time was a phone call about possession of the kits and to either surrender them or action would be taken. I was told there would be an NDA (well I actually asked about an NDA, since they didnt) after the first encounter but they never sent one. It's all in the past now and I hope MS dont mind me sharing. I don't want to put them in a bad light, as I do hope they are actually more lenient nowadays.
ah sorry for making you disclose all this bud :/ still, very neat story, i'm pretty sure i would get out my brass knuckles if i had to be woken up at 7AM just to be told i wasn't allowed to own a console that sits on my shelf.. ;p
Its fine haha, like I said its in the past now, i hope its dead in the water with them. I used to own brass knuckles at that time, but to say I'm in the UK and they were lawyers, not a good idea as it carries the same offence as wielding a blade, on top of being an illegal item haha.
I'm sure its more illegal then devkits that's for damn sure xD well, thank goodness its all over! At least not all was lost mate, heck. with that GDC XNA, you have enough bang for your buck in that to be able to trade it off for DOZENS of xdks! haha
