Would you or anyone else happen to have an extremely rare sonic 1 prototype that was shown at a toy show in 1990?
Seeing as the earth hasn't imploded yet I'd guess not. That is easily one of the least likely things that will ever be found. Sonic 1 prototypes are hard (see impossible) to come by. I personally don't expect to see one in my attention span's lifetime.
I know, but I was kind of hoping that someone would have it. Even if they had no plans to release it, it would have at least been nice to know that someone here has it, and it's not rotting in a desk or even destroyed.
A year's bump probably won't help. I have ROMs of 3 prototype games if interested. These are of the Sonic 3 game. The first one is the complete game before it was split into Sonic 3 and the S&K lock on cart. There are some differences in the protos over the released versions. They will play on real hardware with no issue. I use an Everdrive MD for that. Shoot me a PM if interested in my copies or I can direct you to the site that has them available. I don't wanna link it to here for fear of breaking forum rules with another forum...
Ah, but the guy you're responding to is the very one that probably released them with his huge proto release in 2008. That was such a memorable moment. http://info.sonicretro.org/February_23,_2008_Proto_Release
Dude, it was drx who dumped those. All of them. All of them that weren't available since the early 00s, anyway. And a years bump can help in this case as most trades go in PMs.
I'm still having a hard time understanding how forbidden and unknown you think Sonic Retro is. Anyway, this bump is a surprise. Will drx come out of the shadows one again? Been a while!
Honestly I don't think drx will step out of the shadows for a long time if ever again, no disrespect intended but after the whole megaupload fiasco he disabled all downloads on his site and he didn't even have enough courtesy to post on the front of his site explaining that all downloads were disabled (and I have brought this fact to your attention twice drx) so unless things have changed with drx's stance on everything I wouldn't get my hopes up anytime soon.
Are you not aware of the whole community effort for that one on this very forum? Or the special sub forum dedicated to it? I can't believe how unaware people are of things heh.
Oh, I see. So basically the bigtymer who owns it decided not to share it? That's a shame.. I don't see the point in doing that.
I think you're overlooking that this very community contributed for and dumped a tech demo of Sonic Xtreme. If I really have to link to it.. http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?64-Sonic-Xtreme-release-project There was another one that supposedly may have existed that someone decided not to share I think, though. I forget the details or if I'm just remembering wrong.
I know he isn't dead (otherwise he wouldn't have posted in this thread again) what I was alluding to more was the fact that drx might've closed up shop with releasing prototypes and might never return to doing what he was most known for, I mean personally I think that drx should at least say something on HP on the matter, people have been complaining about the downloads not working on HP and he hasn't even bothered to give his supporters an explanation so they could have a better understanding of why he made that choice. again I mean no disrespect to drx but this is something that really does need to be addressed.
hey drx, since you are a sonic prototype expert: was there any music unused on sonic 1 and 2? Any stage theme that we could listen that never saw the light of the day?
