Wine and Xbox dev kit

I think to migrate to Ubuntu....do you know if I can use dev kit tools (VS2003, FTP....) with Wine?

I don't think all of them will work. I use wine on Mac, and not all programs work a-ok and I need to use a virtual machine. I think you might either want to stay with windows or use virtualbox on Ubuntu. Wine can't virtualize all windows programs, and its not guaranteed that it will completely make all of your programs work.

Very similar, yes. "Virtual mode" is based on what used to be known as "Connectix Virtual PC", which was a direct competitor to VirtualBox (as well as VMware Workstation, which is another thing you could try if VBox gives you issues for some reason).
