windows xp not connecting to internet

    my windows xp hasn't been connecting to the internet or dialup does anyone know what to do?

    Honestly, we're going to need more info to solve anything. Wireless or wired? Are you using dialup or "high-speed"? Do you have other machines connected in the same house to the same internet?

    Dial up.... lelellelelelel. As far as dial up go, try putting your phone in as the ISP number and if it rings, it is something with your ISP. As far as wireless go, check out the drivers and make sure they work.

    It's not really even possible to use wireless and dial-up. I mean, it's not "impossible", but would require a pretty crazy set up which I doubt is happening here.

    thepokemask, you still didn't answer all my questions. Are there other computers in the house which are connected to the internet?

    How much time does it take for a 10 minute, 240p Youtube video to buffer all the way through?

    It must be a nightmare to do anything online with dial-up in the HD era unless you plan ahead for all your online activity (load a very content heavy page late in the evening, should be ready by noon the next day)

    Dial up is still a very real thing out in the middle of no where in the US.

    Understandable.

    Many of my friends in rural areas were totally screwed when it came to internet options. The absolute best service they could get was 3 Mbps DSL and some didn't even get that as an option. The only other choice outside of 56k was opting out for pricey satellite broadband.
