I have found this amongst a clearance and wondered can these be used alongside regular wiis or can they be used only with development kits? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. 1463573061147-262442692.jpg 1463573090085161842998.jpg

They were either used on wireless Wii NDEVs, or RVT-H/RVT-R units. I can't quite remember which, but it's definitely a dev controller.

A said by DeChief, there where used with NDEV units. The RVT-H and RVT-R unit I have have wireless controllers.

You can't use it with regular Wiis.

Are you sure? I just tried Googling for NDEV units with wired controllers and I couldn't find anything, but I'm pretty sure I have seen them.

Well, I was pretty sure, but I am not anymore. The both RVT units I have are wireless, so I don't see any other Wii Dev unit, unless the NDEV.

There may be wired RVT units....

Anyway, you can't use this controller with retail Wiis.

Or was it used by Kiosk units ?

Had a quick look around and there's one of these on ebay for £100, Apparently it's for the NDEV/RVT only.

Sad that I can't bid on them on your ebay listing. Buying from France is restricted.

You may list eBay listings in the eBay thread within the Marketplace.

Wired RVT units definitely existed, someone shows theirs off here:

Judging by the fact that the NDEVs of which public pictures exist of are marked as (wireless), it's probably safe to assume wired NDEVs also exist.

If I am looking at how that RF cable is feeding into the battery terminal, it appears to just be an AC power takeoff. perhaps the RF cable connects to a power supply so batteries are not needed and the cable acts as a leash to the console. If this is the case then the Wiimote CAN be used with a regular Wii Console once a 3Volt Power Adapter is modded with the RF 2 wire connection.

The RF cable attaches to the PCB, it just feeds past the battery compartment. These controllers still need batteries. Do not feed +3V to the RF cable.

These are modified retail controllers bypassing the internal antenna to instead feed the RF over the coax cable from the bottom. They attach to the wired versions of the NDEV and RVT consoles. I think the NDEV can be switched between wired and wireless mode, but the RVT consoles come in either wired or wireless versions.

My NDEV is marked as wireless. It has the coax connection for the wired controller and a switch on the back.
I don't recall ever seeing an NDEV marked as wired, but they may exist.

An as others have said, the RVT-R and RVT-H consoles are either wired or wireless.
    A comparison of the RVT-R wired/wireless consoles.
