    Im planning to use a Wii given to me and i was wondering what connection would be better component or HDMI for a HD wide screen CRT. Some say that the display will try to stretch the image to 1080i if i use HDMI and not look as great while if using component the image will be diplayed correctly at native 480p, the tv has two modes that can be chosen 540p or 1080i. Thanks in advance.

    Given the Wii does not support native HDMI you don't have a choice.
    Remember the Wii is at most 480p.

    I think i might buy a USB capture card and use it through software like OBS through HDMI on Windows, the ones in mind have almost no lag and i can customize resolutions and use full screen with calibration software and filter sound through a beast sound card to beast sound system.

    As already stated, the Wii doesn't have HDMI however converters exist for about $10; in reality all it really does is convert component to HDMI so it wouldn't look any better than component would, and HDMI would be simply be for convenience over picture quality using such an adapter.

    If you're talking about a Wii U though, then ideally HDMI would be the choice.

    So you are thinking of going Wii -> HDMI adapter -> Capture Card -> PC?

    Most capture cards have a pass-through, so it'd be more like Wii -> HDMI adapter -> Capture device ->TV
    |-> PC for recording/streaming
    (Edit: My diagram looked terrible)

    Any component to HDMI converter recommended? I think WiiU does component fine for a wide variety of games, but maybe it is cause I still have a CRT (and am used to handhelds instead....). Want to upgrade/get newer consoles without changing television.
    How in the world does the capture card to PC hookup work?
