why PC Engine is so awesome..

It's probably an OK price. Maybe even a good price. And yes no PC-Engine outputs RGB without being modded.

 

It's not a bad price, although none of the games lookthat rare. I would have asked the seller to test the CD drive with an audio CD (with the System card), that way you would know if the CD unit spins as they can be tricky to get on their own if you do need a replacement.

Converting the PC Engine to RGB isn't too hard, although you have to take the output from the side of the engine due to the CD-ROM2 interface...

 

I'm not too concerned about "rare" games at this moment in time. Just something to have a tinker with. If I like it I'll probably buy a PC Engine Duo R, because they look yum. I'm hoping the CD unit works, I'll just have to wait and see.

Classic mistake: Confuse Gate of Thunder w/Mega CD Lords of Thunder which is in fact Winds of Thunder.

Gate of Thunder is one of my favourite PCE games and IMO way more fun than Winds, which still has an exceptionally awesome soundtrack. The US Sega CD-version was renamed Lords of Thunder, why that I don't know and never will.

Perhaps because NEC/TTi released it as Lords of Thunder in the US well before it was ported to Sega CD?

The game was never known as Winds of Thunder in America.

I just picked one up a week or so ago, it's pretty awesome tbh. I only have 4 games at the moment, but shall be picking up plenty in the next few months. I also gotta get me a CD attachment
