Why is the yellow DC controller so pricey?

Long ago when Gamestop still carried Dreamcast stuff, I was able to pick up red and blue controller cheap along with blue, green, yellow, red, smoke black, and pink VMU. All are transparent colors. Then Dreamcast stuff became extremely scare, only 1 system and a few sports games in the last 5 years.

I've always wanted to have set of 4 colored controllers each with matching VMU. So I decided to look on eBay. Green version is still fairly reasonable at $15 to $20 but yellow? Damn, $50!!

Is transparent yellow the rarest color for some reason? Too hard for Chinese to pee into liquid plastic to get yellow 15 years ago?

Most likely just lack of popularity. I don't know many people that like yellow as a color.

Spot on! Back in the day I sourced quite a few official Dreamcast top-only case replacements, amongst them around 5 yellow. It took me quite awhile to get those yellow ones sold, heck back in the day I didn't even want one. Now years later I wished I didn't sell them all :p ...

So yeah the official yellow controllers/vmu's and top-lids are now expensive because there was hardly any demand for back in the day and thus making it rare (although this sometimes can also work out the other way, that out of the blue a lot of old stock pops-up)

Seems to have gone a little cheap. For the cost of that bid plus shipping, it's almost "regular" price for one yellow DC controller plus free DC console and free green controller. (red one is 3rd party)

Lucky I still needed the green one as well as yellow one. Now I have 4 colored set to go with the 4 colored VMU I have. All I'd need is 3 friends who lives close and likes DC games. (all my local friends are current gen only gamers)
