Title says it all, I want to use a keyboard on the Dreamcast. What is the pros/cons of each? Is one a better option than the other? Are there certain Dreamcast keyboards that are junk and I should avoid like the plague? I would rather get community input before buying an inferior product! Dreamcast experts, give me the rundown on it!

if you need it for more than just input, like if you need it to access debug menus etc like in the Rez debug, get the japanese keyboard. if not get either of the official US keyboards. i never liked the adapters. i own the skeleton one and a regular one that i still need to give to someone.....

DC board all the way. JP especially.Personally the Pink Sakura Wars one and the Pink Hello Kitty one are preferred by me, but there should be a "Skeleton" model too that's nice. Alternatively just get the simple normal JP board. The adapter isn't worth the investment personally.

An adapter is only interesting if you wan't a wireless setup, there are some old PS/2 type wireless mouse and keyboards out there that work with this setup.

Get an adapter and plug in an IBM Model M or some other clicky keyboard. I have a Madcatz AT keyboard adapter that I've even used a Model F AT with. It takes Typing of the Dead to a new level.

Get both, that is what I did. The Sega Keyboard for owning two different Dreamcast versions and the adapter opens up a huge selection on various types of PC keyboards for whatever mood. Definitely get a mouse adapter, so you are not stuck with the Sega ball mouse.

I own the official US keyboard and mouse but yeah optical mice would be great especially for FPS games.
