I was going to order the Mega Everdrive last night - but randomly found a similar thing ending so had a bid and won.

I assumed it was a normal Everdrive V3 with different sticker (the board looked similar) but upon actually looking at the 2 pics side by side its neither an Everdrive v3 or a mega everdrive.

I won it for £41 which is less than half the price of a mega everdrive (although I know from reading that the Mega everdrive is the best you can get) but that's also cheaper by £15 than I can buy a V3 for.

    Anyway pics

I can't really find any info online about it but the specs were pretty much the same as the V3

It's likely a copy of the MegaDrive, and will be unsupported.

Yes that's an unauthorized Chinese clone. I believe it functions the same as the Everdrive MD V2. However, do NOT attempt to EVER update the OS!!! You will brick it. I've seen these sell for around $50-something USD, which IMO is not worth the price. If you can, try to return it.

ah bummer - ok I'll try get my money back.

So can I not run roms at all then? like the Sonic hacks etc?

    EDIT-

contacted seller and explained the situation in that I didn't realise what I'd bought and that it wasn't right . Asked politely for a refund and they refunded me straight away.

Thank god god for nice ebayers!

Lesson learnt - going to order a mega everdrive from online shop!

    Thanks for the help guys!

It's unauthorized but it works exactly the same as the Everdrive MD. Almost all roms will work. I personally just got a new ED MD V3 and sold the V2 to a friend, because it fits all my needs and is half the price of the Mega Everdrive.

Yeah I kind of thought about getting the V3 as it's cheaper but that hasn't got the save function has it?

Everdrive MD's all saved to SRAM as files on the SD card. Same way the games would have originally saved. They do not do save-states however, the Mega Everdrive does that. That will allow you to save for ANY game.
