This is a longshot, but for years I (and many others, it seems) have been trying to find a pre-release build of Sims 2. I was wondering what you guys think on if EA even has the development builds locked away somewhere? I am thinking that they don't exist anymore, considering the fact that EA had shut down the Maxis studio that worked on the first 2 games a while back. Even if I could just find out if it still exists in a playable form, in either a collectors hands or even the company, then I'd be happy. Though I still am just waiting for the day to come where someone will come forward and leak a build, because this game has the most mysterious development cycle I've seen.
Last I heard they are really good, at least the Sims team was. But that was a few years back, havent talked to anyone since. They had the ability to basically pick a date and build the game from there.
Awesome to hear that, honestly. But at the same time, I almost doubt they still have them now, since the base game came out in 2004. But for all we know, they do still have every compiled build, as you said, and are able to pull them out of the archives and compile when needed.
Its not so much that the build is compiled, but that they can compile it at will. Who knows how long EA keeps the archive, but I havent heard as many complaints about them as I have other companies.
oops! That's what I meant. Though we all know that if EA happens to have them still, they will never see the light of day.
I dont have any details but I heard some rumors that the source code to older games in the C&C series has been lost or gone.
