Hi forum, long time no post I hope you're all well. All my life i've watch TV and gamed on various CRT tv's and monitors, and all my memories of the quality in direct or indirect light are pretty good. That being said, I have a Sony PVM 20L4, and since the day I got it i've had to play it with my blinds and door closed in darkness to be able to see it well... When it's in direct or indirect light the picture is barely visible and the light glare causes this. Don't get me wrong, in the dark it looks amazing, but I can't play it even on a rainy English overcast day without the blinds closed! Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? Is there some sort of anti glare coating i can put over the glass? Honestly, I'd love to be able to see the beautiful picture on the PVM without having to turn my room into the grim reapers bloomin lair everytime!
They made covers for monitors that would reduce glare from sunlight. My CRT computer monitor came with one - it's like a shade that hangs on the sides and top of the monitor. I've never really used it much. As far as the issue you described, I think that's the only thing that would make any difference. I think they used covers like that for monitoring video/film that was being shot outside.
