Does anyone have a picture difference or an easy way to tell the difference? I just bought a used oval button saturn so I can install a rhea but I was hoping to figure out which version I have so I can go ahead and order the rhea before the saturn gets here. Tying to figure out the easiest way to tell.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

He did say he took the top off of the saturn and the power supply was not connected to it.

That machine is a VA2, it will not work with Rhea.

i have a grey with blue oval buttons jap saturn, and its 20pin,have rhea builded in.
you find them on ebay for cheap.
they are rhea compatible, but there are also non compatible versions off them out.
from the outside its difficult, maybe serial buttons on the saturn.

Serials always show the board version.

If you want to be 100% sure you get a Rhea compatible machine, get a HST-3200, those are always VA0.

The serial syntax is: manufacturer code (1 number or 1 letter or 2 letters), year (one number), board version (one number, or one letter if higher than 9), then the actual serial number.

    AE 6 2 067665 = made by AE, in 1996, VA 2, serial #067665.

Unless the first character is a number too.

Yeah, it should be a VA1.

That should also be a VA1.

If you want to be absolutely sure, just get a HST-3200 machine. Those are always VA0.

Well its in route. I'll know in a day or so. Now I just need to get a rhea. I could have sworn the preorder was open the other day but it seems to be closed now.

Good news though the first saturn i bought broken came in the mail. Works like a champ. Even though its the wrong mobo, I still bought it super cheap and it plays all of the saturn games I have fine.
