My PS is a different revision but the transistor is in the same spot. It has a different name. I just followed the 12v pin back and 12 V regulator seems the same across revisions. Just different names. I was thinking pull the 3 pin transistor and the resistor next to it the same as you did. At least now I know someone did it. How is the heat?

Aw, man. I thought I solved the issue with the resistor recommended in that video. I guess not.

Citrus, was what you did difficult? I'm not a modder at all, it sounds like your solution may be ideal but I'd hatw to screw it up.

My DC PSU is exactly like the photo. I was going to install the Pico PSU but removing the transistor and the resistor are way easier.
    It's working flawlessly here.

What kind of image files are you guys using? I have the tosec set but it's huge for a thunb stick. Is there a way to reduce the image sizes without going too much into hacking and hex editing?
    1.2GB takes too much space.

I believe familyguy posted a set of tools to do it, did you guys had any success with it?

It's Rocky5 that made the scripts, he used tools from S4phar4d and myself.

AFAIK it's not compatible with the USB GDrom right now, but GDEMU handles it fine.

It's perfectly possible for mnemo to support those "Fat-Trimmed" images in the future, everything should be fine as long as the DC doesn't try to read in the cropped areas, but since nothing points there, it shouldn't be an issue.

You are always fast to trigger a reply!

I'll try talk to him about this, I think he's not even aware of this since he made his device to support up to 2TB.

UGC supports trimmed images, we'll all the images I have tried worked fine.

I may update the scripts & add one that just extracts & rebuilds to a truncated image in one script, making life easier for folk.

    I updated my batches.
(link is the same across all pages)
    Download Extract Re-Build GDI's v1.2.zip
    Code:
    [Updates 1.2]

    1) Added two new batches to truncate & pad images.

I think I got confused with the other way to shrink images, which is simply making them smaller than 120min but requiring a custom bios. The current method you're using is much better, although a faster alternative would be to remove the extra blank sectors directly from the images instead of extracting the files and rebuilding it.

It's not tough, but I also do have tools that make de-soldering easy. The points are pretty close together so it should be easy enough with just an iron.

He is aware of the issue, I've talked to him about it after the last firmware update.

The problem I'm having is that my PAL PSUs do not look anything like that.

I've followed 12v to this point.

I removed the whole part there and it looks good. +3.3 and +5v are both intact.

Heat sinks still get too hot to touch after 10 minutes though. Must not have been right,

Can someone get an actual temp reading of the heatsink on an unmodded dreamcast? Just the intro of some game playing over and over again via a real gdrom.

Did you also remove the resistor I believe it's R-301 in your photo? It Seems to be the equivalent resistor in the PAL PS. Although I'm not entirely sure.mwould like a second opinion. But that resistor plus the transistor remove all electricity from the 12V regulator. It's possible that with the resistor you still are heating up the components,

You need to get into contact MNEMO. There should be a file called GD_DEBUG.bin on your usb device. You'll need to send him this file. He'll send you a new GD_DEBUG.bin file you will put back on the usb drive. Once you do this you are golden.
