Ok this is one of the new things in the firmware update.

Not sure how to convert or change an GDI to this.

I think these are just the shrunken gdi images. I think @-=FamilyGuy=- has a tool for it?

That's what I was thinking, but are the shrunk ones different from truncated GDI files? as UGC has worked with truncated GDI for as long as I know.

(Well they load & play, so that to me means they work)

The very first firmware update I did back in june of last year. I was not able to play GDI files even after putting the debug file back on. MNEMO sent me this.

At the time I was using trurip games shruken with @-=FamilyGuy=- tools. I switched to the original trurip games and had no issues since then.

    Which of my tools?
If you mean RebuildGDI, this is only part mine, most of it is madsheep's code.

AFAIK shrunk GDIs work fine on gdemu, they should also be fine on the USB gd-rom as long as it doesn't explicitly check for track size consistency.

I'm waiting for these to go on sale again. I'm dying to get my hands on one of these or a gdemu. And with the issues that have been occurring with the GDEMU preorders and whatnot, This seems like it may be a better option?
I dunno really. I just want to make my dreamcast work again. I Keep going through laser units and I'm sick of them dying on me.

I'll be watching this thread for more information

I asked mnemo if he was thinking or could add support for launching folders, you know instead of having to select the .gdi file. He just sad "nope".

I even suggested having it load a .gdi named say Auto.gdi that was no config or menu system is needed if users want auto loading of games folders.

    Side note:
If any peeps having issues on the beta with CDI games or images not loading, check the session # as I'm guessing he has using a more robust check now, as I had Code Breaker working on the previous firmware no problem, but on the new beta it was broken.

I just ended up making a simple batch file that takes a CDI & rebuilds it as a Audio/Data in 1 click & that fixed the problem for me.

Nice to hear the second string for image swap with X is implemented.
Do wish the B button can be reconfigured to just EXIT a folder instead of changing region (Y would be better for that).

I do have a problem though...
A while back, I booted my games from a 16GB USB-stick, without ANY problem.
Since I bought a 2TB "My Passport Ultra" formatted with the above mentioned GUIformat program (on Windows 7 OS), the console seems to hang after a specific time.
So I'm thinking the disk goes to sleep after 3-5 minutes and every game I boot hangs after a while
(music stops / game crashes / in-game error screen).
As for the formatting itself, "Fat32 with 512 allocation size is recognized fine" didn't work for me, only from 8192 and up...
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The 2TB is just one big partition with all the correct folders.

That's unwarranted behaviour. Both devices work fine and serve different needs, period.

He didn't look at his device before saying gdemu is ugly...

    Very unprofessional.

Honestly, I find that really funny to read. I can picture a bearded russian talking with accent all that, specially that 50/50 part on D2 LOL.

people need to stop being emotional and just consider the fact this dev is making more of these. I just want to also know where to throw my preorders in. i have 3 Dreamcasts and 2 kiosks and i am willing to put this on all. yes a lot of money but well worth it. take my money =)

how can i send you a PM? is this the way to get in the listing for preorders?

Every game, it's a HDD format issue I guess, because with both previous USB sticks, it's no problem.
    The HDD just locks up/sleeps.
Maybe I need to try with a different console and/or formatting app.

You'll need to get a "dumb" external drive, a lot of the newer ones have all sorts of power saving shenanigans set on the SATA->USB control board.

I've had this issue in the past with server backups using certain drives.

    dissing the GDemu - idiot.

I've never had any problems with my GDemu unit - no compatibility issues or anything - I'll be sticking with it too

You tried disabling the sleep timer?

    http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL

Drive utilities may have an option to disable the idle timeout.

I had to use wdidle3.exe with my WD green drive, it was driving me mad as it would spin down every couple mins or so.
