They should have called Doom 4, COD

So the new Doom multiplayer, is just like Call of duty, it has that very stupid 12 year old Hax0r shooter feel to it.. The player models look like a mash up between halo 5 and Call of duty BO3 and the gameplay has a very unnatural sped up feeling (like halo 5)..
There is a perk set by default that makes big cartoonish numbers fall out of other players when you shoot them to tell you how much damage you are doing (useless and there to make douche bags feel like super hax0rz) and there is this super wanky voice over that announces everything and you cant turn it off...

The game is currently in "closed" beta, not really closed, they are giving out keys like crazy to do two things, get that hype train going and some server side stress testing..

I have a feeling this game is going to end up like fallout 4, whole lot of hype......

I hope the single player is good ...

 

You're joking, right? It feels absolutely NOTHING like Call of Duty or any other shooter currently being played, especially not Shitlo 5. It's probably the best shooter that I've played in years honestly, maybe even since Halo 3.

 

Call of Doom.

 

Despite some similarities, it really doesn't feel like CoD. It feels more like Quake III. I've enjoyed my time with it so far. Honestly, multiplayer in DOOM is just gravy. I'm all about the SP campaign when it comes to DOOM. Add on SnapMap, and the multiplayer feels like a little bonus.

Also, can we please applaud id for giving us a decent bit of content right out of the gate? We have a likely-to-be 10+ campaign with what's expected to be 4 difficulty levels that are promised to be quite different, a multiplayer element AND SnapMap where the opportunities for new content are immense. If anything, other FPS games would give us a short, 5+ campaign that's too easy and linear with an multiplayer element. Then later down the line use SnapMap as DLC. While obviously the game isn't out yet, I sure hope others take example when it does get released... on MAY 13th! (Hype Train).

Also, I liked Fallout 4 quite a bit. Can't blame hype there.

 

Was in the Alpha, Lots has changed with the beta.
Was kinda taken aback a bit when I fired up the beta cause clearly they are adding a bunch of IMHO useless shiny HUD stuff and just I can't even!

But yea gameplay wise its different from modern shooters and feels more old school, I am very OK with that.

EDIT: Also IDK why they hired 343i to design the armor but that guy needs to be fired from everything.... OK IDK who designed the armor but it looks like it was ripped from 343i's Halo, As in it sucks.

 

It looks more like halo honestly. I was really feeling sad when the gameplay videos started coming out.

I'll wait until I know if the single player is any good (probably won't be, going by the videos...). So far I'm in the "maybe eventually, but probably not" camp.

I'm glad you're sticking up for the game. I don't understand all the negative feedback. The only thing I don't like so far is the somewhat reliance on melee.

 

Because gibs? Gore seems to be a big theme for this game from the very first non-public trailer.

 

The more I see, the less it looks like Doom and not just "Halo in Hell". Not interested, even if it plays fine. I quite enjoyed the single player Doom 3 experience and don't need more games like this.

 

the multiplayer doesn't have that tense scary feel too it.. They gave everything bright colors and to make up for it they just reduced the lighting

I'm basing my opinion of the multiplayer from the videos released and this looks like halo to me. If you wanted to stretch it you could also compare it to arena shooters like quake I guess.

 

Remember DooM came out in 1993 I think with a guy wearing a helmet in a green suit running around shooting other guys in helmets wearing black or brown suits and taunting. This is the 2016 version, not a rip off of Halo or COD.
My video clip was of the Carlton dance from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and was for humor that Id. put it in the game.
12 year olds with better reflexes will be making you look bad and hating the multiplayer like any other.
Multiplayer and campaigns are two different worlds, I'm sure I'll be buying it mostly for the campaign on Friday the 13th.

What were people expecting from this multiplayer? Honestly it seems like anything would have been poorly received. id was damned if they did and damned if they didn't.
